This rookie is having a tough time starting off the season. Had a decent size ski come up on a jackpot two casts in a row today but didnt take it. im getting antsie. anybody got any tips for early season river muskies? i need to get one soon or i may go even more crazy haha

Most on this board have way more experiance than me but I'd have a second rod ready to follow up cast back with a completly different lure like a creature. Or quickly switch to somthing simular but different size or color. Keep casting for sure.

I don't know what your feelings are about live bait but, there is a lot of success in the musky world (if your state allows it!) decoying a following musky with a live sucker on a quick strike rig at boatside. Or, having a "Meat Rod" ready in the live well as a throw back bait. "Quick Strike" is the operative word. I also give a second to using a smaller soft plastic as a followup. Good luck!

Mike, Spring dawgs and suicks have been the trick lately.
