Anyone have a 55 lb now mount on one of these boats? Is it enough thrust in say 20 mph wind to fish? I would like a terrova, but can't decide 55 lb or 80.
Thanks

Your trolling motor can never be too powerful. I have a CS165 Magnum with an 80 ipilot and I'm happy. Only problem is the boats 3 feet to short.

My 16-ft Tracker came with a 42-lb Powerdrive V2 which was too wimpy, and when I upgraded I didn't think going to a 55-lb would be enough. I now have an 80-lb Terrova with I-Pilot and it is sweet now. My boat has gone from being almost unusable in 20 mph winds to being no problem at all.

Not just because of the extra power, though. The I-Pilot's Autopilot feature keeps my light, high-sidewall boat from swinging wildly when going up- or cross-wind, and Spot-Lock is a fabulous feature when you want to fan-cast an area, or when you hook up with a fish. You can set the spot lock on with the push of a button and then land the fish without having to worry about what the boat's doing.

I don't think a 55-lb would be enough in heavy winds.

55 is too small for that boat in wind. Get the 80, it's overkill but better than the alternative
