Location: MN | Which one would it be?
Been using 6501's for years with no issues.
Easy to care for and keep in top shape.
Had a big girl on with drag cranked all the way down and I still had to thumb reel.
Would like to keep it under $300.
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Location: Hayward, WI | I haven't used them all, but have had experience with a few. From my experience, I'd take a Revo Toro 60 NACL with the 5.4 gear ratio. Fits my hands well, the double paddle handle is nice if you like them, and I like the Power Handle with 2 length settings. Feels smooth, solid, and powerful. 26" line pickup is neither fast or slow. It's pretty light and doesn't weigh a light rod down.
Shimano CalcuttaB is a nice reel under your budget too but I'd take the Revo over that. The Calcutta D would probably compete with the Revo but I've never used one.

| Love my 401D. The only negative is the disengaging level-wind. You learn pretty quick to somewhat center the line guide before casting and that is a non-issue for me now. Otherwise it is an awesome all around reel. Mine has been in perfect working order from the first to last day of the season the last two years. I have several 6501's too and typically can't say the same about them. The good thing is those are easy to fix. |

| Reels Ive owned in the last couple years. LEXA 400pwr, LEXA 300HSp. Shimano Curado 300e, TranX HG, NACL 50 6.4, NACL 60 5.4. and used a 400b for a few hours.
I would say the NACL 60 5.4 is the best all around reel. |

| Curado 300ej or e with power handle. It has the feel and comfort of a bass reel and I can throw any bait I want with it. What's not to like about it. |

| If people think the toros are loud cast a lexa or curado side by side. They are the smoothest of the bunch. I've got 5 nacls and haven't had any problems with them or the clickers |

| I have had several different reels from several different companies and I have had better luck with my diawa luna than any other. I have send it in every other year to be serviced and have the AR bearing replaced and it is as smooth today as it was four years ago. |

| I just took my NACL 60 out the other day. Its the 6.4:1. I must say I was slightly disappointed. Not that the reel didn't perform, but due to the fact that I still prefer my Curado 300 over the NACl. Maybe I should of gotten the 5.4:1 as I keep hearing these are the better all around reels. |

And J if your reel is noisy probably just needs cleaning and lube.
I've never done a Revo but a baitcaster is a baitcaster.
My 6501's get the treatment every year.
Very easy to maintain most of these reels.

I always lube them and i'm sure a little cleaning would help, that being said I have had my Calcutta for 2 years and its holding up well. |
