Does lowrance still do the trade up systyem, i have have a gen 1 hds 10 and was looking to step up to gen two in the hds 7 or 9. Has any one ever used this or tried it.... is it really worth it?

I was able to upgrade two years ago. I made the same switch to from a ten to a 9 touch. I love the 9 touch.

By trade up I am assuming you mean send your unit to lowrance to apply a credit as such to a new unit correct? I don't know that they do this. In the past they had done this for a while if you had a unit that was no longer supported and it significant issues with it. Back when the 520 and 522 units around and all the issues they had I believe they offered something like that when the HDS initially came out but I am not 100% sure.

Here is what I could find online about it: "The 5-Year Advantage offers comprehensive
support for five years, including upgrade options to
current technology products.
In the unlikely event your product fails, the 5-Year Advantage
supports you for a full five years from the date of purchase.
The program features a unique Trade-Up option, where you can
upgrade to current technology products at a discounted price"
