| Does anyone have any information regarding inexpensive (under $400) GPS/fish finder that you would recommend? Something like the Garmin echoMap 44dv or 43dv Chartplotter Sounder or the Lawrence Elite 4 CHIRP w/ Navionice. My goal is to use it as a portable unit that I can bring with me and use during my week in Canada but also on other lakes throughout the year. I am currently boatless so I need to rent a boat wherever I go. If you have something else that you would recommend, I would be interested in hearing about it. I greatly appreciate the help and I thank you in advance. |

| I have a Lowrance Elite 5 HDI and an Elite 5 DSI....got both around $300 each. I'm not a techie by any means but these units seem to do the job for a reasonable price.

I would like to hear your opinions on the Helix.
Have you had a chance to use it yet? |

I'm looking at a stand alone unit for my tin boat and thought the Helix SI unit might do the trick. I'd be interested in hearing your opinion as well. |

| I just got it in the mail yesterday. Going to install it this weekend and hopefully on the water. For the $$ it has every option on a 5" diagnal screen. Played around with it at bass pro. And its pretty neat little unit. |

Did the screen seem large enough to pick up details?
That is my main worry/concern... |

Location: Wakefield, MI | The helix is a nice looking unit, I probably would have came home with one if there wasn't a big rebate on Lowrance at the boat show. The screen is about the size of a smart phone on its side. |

| The screen is definitely bigger than a smart phone screen |

| Luke dont forget how huge phones are these days. I have a Elite 5 DSI and have been happy with it for my console unit. I would like something with a larger screen for the bow though. |
