I am thinking about getting 2 custom rods built. I know like nothing about it. I know they are more money than off the shelf models but I have my reasons. What are your thoughts on them and who would you guys recommend? I would prefer someone in the southern half of Wisconsin but that is not manitory. There seems to be an infinite number of options so it would be nice to talk to someone fast to fast.

Custom rod's are nice if you have the money. I use Thorn Bros just because there in my back yard. There are rod builders all over .find one talk to them tell them what you want the rod for and let them build your dream rod. The musky shows are winding down but there is a few that are at the shows every year.I'm sure some one will chime in on a builder in your area.

Use Thornes!! They have a great warranty on their rods. First 30 days 100% after that half price of original cost!! Most custom builders warrant only the blank, not the labor. Important to look into the builders warranty.

I would imagine you will get every custom to builder on this thread and have no doubt they are all good. I have one custom rod, it is a franks custom rod. I love it. He builds good stuff and they be quite pretty.

I believe in shopping local.
Northern WI: Elk River
Central-Southern WI: B&B
TC Metro: Thornes
Northern MN: Lake Lady
Southern MN: DLF Custom
Northern IL: Frank's or Dadson's
All those guys are awesome. A guy can always build his own too. It ain't that tough.

No one beats Jeremy at Tuscarora. He has built a few of my rods and they all come out looking awesome. He works with all kinds of blanks and can get some blanks in any color you want!
