Yep, lowes, Home Depot, Menard's....PVC pipe cut to 10', buy two caps that fit your tube. Cheap, way easy, and effective. That's what mine is!

I have a Plano that's 8'6".

Pvc isn't exactly cheap. The custom tubes I built for my roof rack cost over $200! I used 8" sch40 with an end cap glued on one end and a screw in cap on the other. I suppose you could use a small diameter sch30 pipe to cut down on costs but then you won't get many rods in it. I went the more durable route because I wasn't going to take any chances!

I made mine out of 4" pvc....Glued cap on one end.....black rubber hose clamped boot on the other.....piece of Foam in the ends to keep them from rattling.....I can get at least 4-5 rods per tube......had to be less than $20 a tube

^^^exactly what pondigger said...trip to Canada I fit 4 musky rods going in one end, then two walleye and two bass rods the other end. Never an issue packing them like this the 4 years I've used it.
