Hey guys, I'm looking to have a Predator built for throwing heavy gliders & jerks. The baits I'm talking about are Phantoms in the 10-12" range, and some of the basement custom baits that sit in that 12-16 oz range.

I already have a couple Predators one being a 9'3", with 2" off the top. I'm looking to get an XH in the 7'8" range, and was wondering about having a couple 1-2" trimmed off the top of that. Have any of you gentleman had that done to an XH P? I also think an XXH would be to heavy for what I'm looking to use it for? I have other rods in the 9' category that would handle those type of baits, but I'm looking to have one for use that's under 8' for some of these specialty gliders/dive risers. Thx in advance for any info.

I have an 8' 4" XH with a 17" handle for my Jerkabait rod. I didn't take anything off the tip on mine as I throw mid size gliders the most. Really pleased with how this rod turned out. If you are strictly focusing on the big gliders I would talk to Lonnie about triming the tip a bit. See how he thinks the action would work out. I would be leary about taking too much off the XH as it is already a very stout rod. 10" Hellhound and 10" Weagle are the biggest baits I throw with mine. It handles those with ease.

Thanks for the replys. I've had a 9' XH Predator and sold it to a friend. Great rod for sure. It handled pounders for me and other big stuff. I was just wondered if taking an inch off the tip, would make it fall between the XH & the XXH. Again I have some big gliders and jerks that go up to 16 oz. Thanks again, fellas.
