Being a bass fisherman and part time musky fisherman, I have often wondered about the few large poppers out there on the market and their use for musky. I have a giant one that I took the back treble off and replaced it with a large dressed one. Used it for a day with no results but it looked great in the water. I believe the guys who fly fish for musky use poppers quite a bit.
I like the idea of it because it is simply yet another different sound and presentation that a lot of "pounded" fish haven't seen. I realize that musky cannot be compared to a bass in terms of certain behaviors but something that looks and sounds like food is universal. I'm going to continue to give it a try this year. Anyone out there play around with this? There's gotta be plenty of guys out there with a lathe that have made their own too.........

I found a giant sized chug bug in the bargain bin. My go to top water for bass, hooked a few muskies on the regular sized one so figured the big size would be worth a shot.

Over twenty years ago on the Manitowish chain I caught my first "good" musky on a popper that my brother bought. A 42" on what I think was called a "plop-a-doodle". Never really threw it much after that for some reason?????

Rapala makes a 5" one, I have one haven't gotten it in musky waters yet but I like the way it pops and has a slight walk-the-dog action as well.
