Should I get the .072" closed screw eyes or the .092" for 5" jerk baits. The screw eyes will be 3/4 in length if that makes a difference.

I've used both. What kind of wood are you using? If you are using a hard wood I think you are fine but the 3/4" is a little short for my liking. I like to use the 1.5" if at all possible.

I also think that the 3/4 is to short, also make sure you understand how they determine the length of the screw, the 3/4 dimension is over all length, that includes the screw head, I made that mistake when I first started building baits

I am building the lures off of the mini appealers. I was going to use hardwood, but I am sure they used a softwood. And I am sure the middle hook is 3/4. I will bull the other two to verify.

You could angle the screw eyes to use a longer length if worried it would come out the top.
