Location: Kalamazoo, MI | Does anyone know how tippy/james/etc are doing right now?
We've been pounding Webster every Saturday for the last month or so, but havent had very good luck. It seems like every week the water clarity just keeps getting worse. And I know there is the Webster Lake Musky Club Youth Outing this Saturday, so we are looking for other possibilities in the area.
Any reports on clarity/catches/temperatures/etc for Indiana lakes would be great!
Thanks in advance. |

Location: Lafayette, IN | Fished Tipp/James Fri from sunup til 1pm. No luck. Water temps 47 in am to 53 on the flats after lunch. Clarity, not too bad. Marked all fish in 25+ feet and seemed to be in good numbers. They seemed to favor the 15' to 25' slot in the column. Good day for us to try new techniques we've never done....planer boards and Dipsy Divers. That much was sucessful.....at least it looked impressive to us! (hee hee) We still need lots of help in the trolling dept though. Heck, we just need lots of help in general! |

We went to Skinner and Loon today. Pulled a 37" out of Skinner trolling a shallow raider.
What is with the water clarity in Indiana?! Weve been to a few lakes here in michigan this year just to check out water levels, weedlines, etc. All the lakes here are quite clear. So far every lake we have been to in Indiana has been horribly stained/murky. Is it always like that? |

Location: Lafayette, IN | spieg, The clarity issue is anyone's guess. Tippy is generally one of the clearest lakes in the area (except on weekends). The others are more succeptable to runoff being they are smaller and shallower than Tipp. We've noticed the algae bloom has been bad on some of the Warsaw area lakes. Hopefully, this year will be a little better. Lots of weekenders stir the smaller lakes up bad and since they are natural lakes they don't clear as quickly as impoundments with lots of turnover and current. Tippy usually clears by Wed (that's what I've been told anyway). Good luck. |

Location: Toledo | I fished Barbee, Tippy and Webster this past Saturday and only raised one on Barbee. Tippy did not have any of the weed beds that I normally fish, I don't know if it was due to the harsh winter or if the chemicals from Webster have moved their way down the chain. The water clarity was great in Tippy, but Little James was dirty. Webster was the dirtiest that I have seen it since the assault of weed killers last year. I hope a leason has been learned, too many lakes have been ruined with weed killers. They got rid of the weeds, but now can swim in water that looks like mud. I hope that this great lake can be saved! There was a bass tournament on Saturday, I saw some nice bass brought in, but they were pale colored like any fish that comes from a weedless environment. Location: Muncie, IN | I fished Loon today by myself. Water was very stained. Marked fish suspended at 10 feet over thirty to forty feet of water near bait clouds. Did see on thrash on top off the big point. |

| all I can say about Webster is that all good things must come to an end.
I am afraid it has seen the better days turn into folklore.

Location: Toledo | Indiana update- My brother and I fished the Hoosier Muskie Classic and won. We saw large fish on both Tippy and Webster. The only large fish we saw on Webster was prefishing on Thursday, upper 40 inches. The tournament was a different story, both large fish were on Tippy. A 48 incher landed and another upper 40 incher following within minutes of landing the 48 incher. We caught one small one on Barbee. I believe we would have done better on Barbee, but the winds were controlling the boat more than we were. The Clasic being a team tournament was won with a team fish. The 48 incher followed my surface bait to the boat, took a strike at it on a figure eight and then saw my brother's lure and found it more to it's liking. I have been disappointted with Webster since the weed-kills, but after the tournament it seems a little more sensitive. You need to fish it at the right times, even more so than in the past. The prefishing we did raised 7 fish in two hours, I know Webster has been capable of better, but this is the best I've seen since the weed-kill. There my be light at the end of the tunnel!!! | My father and I fished Webster Lake for the first time this past weekend. We had been hearing good stories about this body of water and decided to give it a try. We were both a little "nervous" about having any success fishing a body of water that we have never before. Especially when hunting musky. Too both of our surprise we did well. When all was said and done we boated 8 muskies. 39, 36, 36, 35, 34, 30 , 27, and 24". Sunday alone we had 30 other fish to the boat. You do not have to believe me, because I was there and still don't believe it. 3 monster wish as well pushing 48". We realized that was a fluke day as Monday the scene was different, but we took what we were given and were happy |
