Can anyone tell me why my Elite 7 will not read everytime i put the trolling motor back down. Sometimes it will read depth instantly, but 99% of the time it takes several minutes or i have to turn it off, then on. Minnkota Powerdrive with US2. Thanks

Had the same issue 2 years ago with same setup in diff boat as well

Air bubbles caught in the rim of the transducer??

I've heard that can happen.

It's seems to be common issue with this unit. I've read that you should put the unit in "standby" mode and that will help. I've just got used to mine doing it.

Describe your rigging of the unit? Is it wired to the starting battery? Where is the transducer mounted? Id it by the trolling motor. I have not heard of any issues of them not reading, typically a rigging issue. Take some pics of the transducer on the transom.

It's on his trolling motor so it's going in and out of the water when he changes spots.

It sounds to me like he's leaving it on between spots and I don't know if thats what most people do but I always turn mine off when out of the water and have never had issues but mine are HDS series

I have an elete series portable and always turn it off when out of the water.

I had a similar issue once with a Humminbird once. I fixed it by resetting the unit to factory defaults. Not sure if Lowrance units have this option. Worth a look...

This issue happens when guys take the motor out of the water, leave the sonar unit on then move across the lake to a new spot, deploy the motor. The graph will not read right away. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. The whole time you are driving from spot to spot the ducer is pinging outer space.
Now I turn my unit off each time OR I put it in standby mode. Some people think that these things have a shelf life of only X # of power ups so they want to leave them on, but I just turn it off usually especially if I am going on a longer run.

Wired directly to battery and built in trans. Like mentioned..I leave it on from spot to spot because i fish a smaller lake with small weedbeds most of the time. I am going to put in stand by mode this wknd before i pull motor out and see what happens

I think he mentioned it is a transducer built into the trolling motor!
