Location: MadCity Wisconsin | You are cordially invited to attend the Capital City Muskies Inc. 14th Annual Muskie School to be held on Saturday March 14, 2015 at Waunakee Wis. High School. The public is welcome, no need to be a member to attend. Doors open at 7:30am. You may choose 3 Classes to attend from a selection of 28! A delicious catered lunch is provided for all who attend. We are offering 3 new classes to the curriculum this year at the request of past attendees.
The cost is $35 for adults if registered on or before March 9th. $45 after that date or the day of the school. Kids 17 and under is $10. For those of you who register on or before March 1 you will be eligible for a drawing with the prize being a $200 Gift card from Dorn Sports Shop in Madison, Wis.
We will also have a raffle and super raffle as well as silent auctions for a weeks stay on Lac Vu Desert and several guide trips offered. Bring your checkbook!

Location: Yahara River Chain | So many classes hard to choose which ones to take. Its a good time and lots of members and friends of the club are donating time for this worthy event. I always look forward to this. I taught tying up single strand leaders and if any kids were watching, I'd make them make their own instead of watching. Hands on instructing. If I had the parts we could even make up bucktails.

We are shooting for over 200 students for the fourth straight year.
This school was instrumental in providing funds to stock and pit tag several hundred Leech Lake strain muskies in Madison last year.

Choose which classes you want to attend, have a Muskie Saturday in March, a chance at some really cool prizes, a superb lunch, chance to enter kick butt raffles, and learn a lot...all for a great cause. This club knows how to run an event. Top shelf all the way. I think I have been offering a unit or two each year for 14 years as of this school, and I'll keep it up as long as they will have me. What a blast! |

Location: MadCity Wisconsin | We have had several inquiries regarding openings in the Reel Repair Classes taught by Gary Liegel, Reel Repair specialist at Wildneress Fish and Game Store. There are 5 openings in the 9am class, 4 open slots in the 10:35 class and 2 openings in the 1:00pm class. These are first come, first served and usually fill up by mid February. If you wish to take this class I would recommend signing up soon.
Steve (sworall) is going to be very busy again at the School teaching Utilizing the Internet for Muskie Fishing at 9am, How to fish Oneida and Vilas Counties with Matt Raley at 10:35am and Poolside Lure Demonstrations at the School Pool at 1:00pm. We appreciate your hard work in helping run this school for the past 14 years!

Location: Vilas County, WI | I'm a first time attendee and am really looking forward to this event. Definitely think its worth the 2 hour drive. I mailed my registration in last week and I did sign up for one of the reel maintenance/repair courses. So by the looks of it I made it in!

When I took the reel class a couple of years ago with Gary, it was great. i brought my own reel (Revo Toro) and even brought my own tools. I have a nut driver, jewel's screw drivers, C-clip puller, oil, grease, etc all stuff I take on a fishing trip in case I have to dig into my reels. After that c;lass I was able to buy high speed gears for my Revo Toro winch and converted my reel to one I could use more often. Well worth the time to attend. |

Location: MadCity Wisconsin | Update: The Reel Repair classes are filling up. The 3 separate classes are limited to 6 students each. We have 3 openings left in the 2nd period class from 10:35 to 12 Noon if you want this class signup very soon. The 1st and 3rd period Reel Classes are full.
All other Muskie School classes offered are not limited to number of students.

We have 70 students signed up at this point, still shooting for 200 again!
FYI….If you are attending the Muskie Expo at Milwaukee this weekend there will be signup sheets available at the front desk as you walk in.

Location: Cedarburg, WI | I've been attending this school for the last couple of years, and have been impressed every year. Even if you read all the internet forums dealing with Musky, in my opinion...there is nothing better than to be able to talk to the people that make their living fishing for them. Here, they're not selling anything or trying to sign you up for their guiding services. Even though some of them have their own lines of lures, none have used this platform to pimp their products. All of the presenters have been open and welcome questions, and I have never seen any of them talking down to anybody asking "beginner" questions. They genuinely seem to want to help you catch fish. I've learned a lot about which products have been working for these people in the area, as opposed to reading about things in magazines that happen to be "hot" in Kentucky now. Not that magazines are wrong for doing that, but it doesn't help me on the waters I happen to fish. As was also mentioned, the lunch is excellent, and if you happen to leave hungry, that's your choice. If you want to learn about Muskies, you won't be sorry you spent the day here.

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | This school is such a great place for the beginners to the most experienced muskie nuts. Where else can you sit in on a detailed discussion on area lakes and learn the patterns, lures, colors and hot spots in one class. Plus if you bring a map you can mark it up just like you hired a guide for the day.
Now that was just one class. U can pick 3, get a awesome lunch and be part of raffles. All this for under $50.
The best part is the money raised goes into the area lakes.
Please pass the word. Lets make this year a record attendance.
I will do my part with the Southern Wisconsin seminar of Pewaukee and area lakes. Fell free to bring maps and ask plenty of questions. I have over 40 years of experience on Pewaukee and willing to share my secrets with my class each year. |

FYI…..If you are attending the Milwaukee Muskie Expo Sunday we have Muskie School signup sheets and class listings at the Abu Garcia Booth just to the left of the front entrance. Look for the bright orange sheets of paper.

Location: MadCity Wisconsin | As of yesterday all three Reel Repair Classed are now full. They were limited to 6 students per class.
We are excited about our Opening Plenary Session at the beginning of the Muskie School at 8am. Excellent, well known guides Lee Tauchen and Jeff Hanson will present on how to catch a personal best muskie. Both have had muskies over 55" in their boats. Get your questions ready.

The best thing is not only the classes but they are always willing to answer your questions and seem very happy doing it
After all the time and money folks put into muskie fishing I think your foolish not to spend another $35 and A day to learn a lot, and you get the great meal on top of it all

| That will be covered in Part 2 "Keeping muskies out of the boat". As hard as I try to keep the hooks out of their mouth, sometimes I am unlucky enough to get one hooked. I have developed some fool proof strategies to prevent landing them and getting a photo.

Location: MadCity Wisconsin | A reminder that to receive the low rate of $35 for Registration you must have you entry postmarked on or before March 9, Monday. After that date $45.00.
We also allow Walkin Registrations the day of the School at the 45 dollar rate. Youth 17 and under will remain at $10.
The Muskie School is on course to break attendance records this year. Over 175 Students have registered as of today!

Location: MadCity Wisconsin | For those who have not yet registered for the Muskie School, the last day to send in registration forms by mail is Tuesday, 03/10/15. After that date registration confirmation notices may not be processed and sent back to you in time. Late mail registrations should be picked up at the Registration Table as Will Call.
Walkin registrations are now welcome the day of the Muskie School. The price has now gone up to $45.00 for adults and will remain $10 for those age 17 and under. Doors open at 7 am for coffee with the Opening Plenary session beginning at 8:15am.
Over 200 students have now registered for the fourth straight year!
Thank you for your support. Proceeds will help fund Lake Monona muskie stocking as well as Scholarships for Waunakee H.S. Seniors.

I am in one of the reel classes as well. I've never torn a reel down so I don't have a clue what tools are recommended/needed for reel maintenance. I'm brining an Abu 6601 C4.
Could you (or any of the readers) give me an idea of what the basic necessary tools are?

grease
(instead of solvent I use WD-40 to clean parts - not for lube)
if I think of more I'll add to the list. I have my tool kit in the garage and I check it out tomorrow. I can even post a pic

Location: Yahara River Chain | Here are my tools in pictures form. The small screw driver set you can get a good one like on the left or a cheap one on the right. The other tools you need are a 10MM nut driver or a wrench, oil, and in the parts tray is my "L" hook to pull the "c"-clip at the end of the crank drive and at times your drag washers will stick together at times. Also a bit of grease, all these fit into a small Plano box (not the tray or nut driver) that also have parts for my Abu Garcia (mostly) reels in the box.

Stopped at Dorns for 20% off after the show. Great selection of muskie tackle and other stuff. Spent too much but found some must have things.
Great to see everyone and talk muskies all day today. Food was great as always. |

Location: Poynette WI. | Thanks to all who volunteer there time, way to many names to thank everyone! I brought my dad who doesn't muskie fish for the first time and he loved it. He was very impressed to say the least and took some electronic classes and made some great contacts as well. I kicked started the day with spring muskie and all 3 gentleman were very helpful and shared some great information. Also had the reel repair class and Gary took very good care of my reel actually gave it a good cleaning and showed me how to remove the spool and fixed my clicker, that was awesome! Steve's pool side demonstrations were very helpful and I will be taking a ton of that advice to the water and have no doubt it will help make for an easier day casting and more fish in the boat. I've watched several of his videos on alot of the same stuff but watching it in person just helps it sync in more. Just all around great stuff with top notch anglers. Best money I ever spent. Probably could've bought some nice gear with all the raffle money I spent but on the bright side there just might be a few more fish swimming around for me to catch since some of that goes to stocking. Already looking forward to next year's !
