I bent the tips slightly inward on my star drag,it made it easier to adjust the drag,and it made the star drag rub less on the handle, but that's optional.

Why not just change the paddles to the foam?
Didn't know that was an option. I've never done maintinence on a reel before, assumed I had to replace the whole thing. Are the handles the same length between the NACL and the winch?

Are you saying these are available somewhere? I am more interested in just getting the single large foam knob from the NACL, but it is not available to my knowledge (must buy entire handle). What can you tell us? It seems very similar handles are offered by Daiwa but don't know if just parts can be had from them either.
