Mid-price sunglasses

I wear $12 Walmart polarized sunglasses.

I should wear $250 Costa Del Mar's or Maui Jim's.

But isn't there something available in between? like in the 50 - 100 dollar range?

Ideally, someday I'll get to a store that has a huge selection of Costa's, so I can figure out which frame fits my head and which lens I like. Then I'll search for the best deal. In the mean time, I'm just curious if there even are any mid-price options, that truly are better than the cheapies that I wear (and frequently break/lose).

Thanks!

If you have a Costco membership check out their polarized glasses. I have seen Smith, Maui Jim, Ray Ban, and a couple other brands in that price range.

If you have eye coverage in you insurance use it for sunglasses. I get name brands like Wiley x polarized prescription lenses for well under 150 on my plan. I dont wear glasses but I have asked the doctor to give me better then 20/20 and most have at least tried.

You can always go try on the $180-250 costa's and find what size frames fit best...then keep any eye out on the for sale forums and pick them up used. I have a pair of 580p's that I like and bought new but also found a pair with glass lenses for just over $100 and love them too....find out what fits and look around.

I really like the H3O's w/ the interchangeable lenses I bought a few years ago. I believe they are about $110. It's nice to be able to change the lenses as the brightness of the sun changes.

You can keep an eye on Backcountry, steap and cheap, sierra trading post ect. and look for discontinued sale models at reasonable prices.

I mainly stick with Oakley's but its because I get a deal on them.  However, last year my wife found a pair of Field & Stream glasses at Coscto or Sam's (can't remember now) for cheap.  My expectations were very low given the price of the glasses (under 50.00 if I remember right), but after using them on day one of our trip to Canada last year I put away the Oakley's and havent used them since.  I guess its just a matter of what works best and fits best for you.

I wear H3o's and have never had an issue. The Ice series fits me the best. I usually stick with the bronze colored lenses, but have used the polar clear many times as well. I got the lites, and they are around 60-70 bucks

Solar Bat has very nice lenses and the Mossback lens color is really, really nice. I have a couple pairs of Solar Bat's and in low light pick up my Mossback color lenses in place of my Costa's

Giving a shout out for my brother Z here… The Strike King s-11 are super inexpensive yet surprisingly nice sunglasses with no distortion and excellent clarity.

Just to throw another wrench into the pool. Glass lenses do work better they poly lenses imo. I was going through 3-4 mid priced frames a year when I lived in Tampa Bay. I was always looking for that perfect set of glasses. When I changed my costa poly lenses to the costa glass lenses...... night and day. They were heavier but I only noticed it in my hands.

I know some will argue they dont notice a difference, but until I had the same manufacturers poly and glass in my hands on the water at the same time, I would have said the same thing. But to me at least, glass is better.

Super Tough? Not the one I bought last year at the Ohio show. Nose guard broke off & one of the lenses cracked. Got maybe 3 1/2 months use out of them.

Call Earl Park he will take care of you. I had broke the insert frame for my prescription lenses and sent them to him and he replaced them and sent them back. Maybe you should have contacted him prior to the show where you got them and I'm sure he would have taking care of you. He has always given me great service.

In case anyone's looking for some - lots of sunglasses on Steep and Cheap right now. I wish I knew if the models for sale would fit!

I found that Costa's Tuna Alley & Permits fit my head nicely. Unfortunately those frames aren't on SteepandCheap right now.

I'll second this. I used a pair of these with the Mossback lens for years until I went to Oakley's, and they still come with me as a backup.
