| My uncle and I just planned a trip to North Spring Lake in mid April. I would have preferred March, but it doesn't work with other travel. I have never fished Spring in the past (or any other Illinois lakes for that matter). I realize that it is considered a numbers lake and that is what I am looking for as my uncle is new at chasing muskies. I'm hoping that he gets hooked now that he is retired so I have another partner.
Any suggestions for the mid April time period? Lures - size, color? Are topwaters getting action at this time? My understanding is there are two launches. Which do you prefer? In an "average" year, what should we expect for water temps? Haven't booked lodging yet, but I'm assuming that we will stay in Pekin. Lodging suggestions? Any other info would be great. Thanks. |

Location: Oregon, WI | If one was to go there, does anyone have any boat friendly accommodations?

| not sure what you mean by boat friendly accommodations but the lake has a 25 hp limit and is SHALLOW. Tons of vegetation and is an action fishery.

| Did you watch the musky hunter fishing show yesterday ? They said they were on a central Illinois lake in March, and they did caught a lot of smaller muskys. I was thinking this was spring lake but am not sure because I never been there. Do you think this was Spring ? |

Location: Oregon, WI | "Boat friendly" meaning electric plugin and really don't have to worry much about theft etc. Kind of like the place in Murphysboro when fishing Kinkaid. |

| the place we stay in Pekin does not have alot of electrical outlets but we make it work, just make sure you take plenty of extension cords. Even when we are in Murphysboro we still take everything that is not locked up into the room with us, sad but it is the world we live in. I have a buddy get two boxes stolen out of his boat at a ramp last year and we were not over probably 75 yards away so you never know. |

| Depending on weather temps are usually in low to mid 50 ' s by then. Probably a little early for topwater but give it a try. Twitch baits, Phantoms and spinnerbaits are a good choice. Main ramp is on causeway that splits the lake in half. There are a number of small motels in Pekin. Be sure to ask if they have outlets outside as a few of them don't. Most fish are going to be in the 32" to 38". 48" is the top end at Spring. Can be fun lake but frustrating as well! |
