Location: Madison, WI | Been to LOTW for 20 years musky fishing....i know the routine. Been doing the guys trip every year with boat but the wife was watching a show and saw a resort and said..."we can go there"....(light bulb on).....
Does anyone have any recommendations for other Canada trips that are fairly reasonable, drive to, and relatively safe water.....that would be a good place for the wife (first time to Canada) and two kids (2 and 5 years of age). Looking for something clean and affordable that is family orientated, i.e. good swimming, beach, maybe some shopping nearby, etc.....but can also get decent musky fishing in. But can still take the young ones out and not have to worry about big water, etc.
Yeah thought about Sabaskong for drive to but ive fished out of that many of the 20 years and being stuck in doors as the main lake has 5-7 footers isnt what I am looking for with regards to family stuff....
Goal is to get wife to enjoy it enough that she wants to go back...thus adding an additional trip to Canada each year......and whatever fishing i get out of that is a bonus to the hardcore trip to LOTW.....

| Indianhead lodge just outside of sioux narrows. Has a small beach to swim. It's located in snake bay off of whitefish bay. Snake is pretty sheltered when it's to windy out on the big water. |

| Canadian Haven gets pretty good reviews for a family style resort. More or less right in Nestor Falls so you have a few shops and what not and Sioux Narrows is a nice short drive away. That part of Sabaskong is not big water by any stretch. I believe bloom is less of an issue around there as well. Short drive from IFalls too. |

Location: MN | I would consider Cliff Lake or Indian Chain, more numbers lakes but still some potential trophy size. Smaller water and lots of fun. Clarks Camps and Lost Bay I think |

Location: Wisconsin | been to a number of lodges in NW ontario.... Century Lodge has become my familys go to for the past 5 summers. They lodges are great, fishing is incredible. Contact Randy at the lodge, and your trip will be fantastic. It is easy to get to, but also very remote and beautiful. PM if you want to know anything! |

Location: New Hope MN | It's heavily pressured, but Cedar has many drive to resorts and never kicks up big waves. I've seen 3 footers, but nothing like LOTW, leech, mille lacs, etc.
The kids could catch walleye, smallies, perch, crappie... you name it. I've been there 3 times and marked it off for muskies simply because I did not enjoy how many other anglers were on a 5000 acre lake. but for a family it's worth considering. Some tankers in there too.
For resorts, I've stayed at 2 places that were not very family friendly. Cedar lake Lodge and Cedar point resort (better of the two for family). I think there are 3 or 4 more. Northern lights (probably your best bet), keystone, and.... can't remember the rest. Good luck on your search. |

Location: Ontario | Wiley Point lodge has a beach, games room, great fishing off the dock and its in a protected area so waves are rarely an issue. Staff, boats/motors, food and accomadations are top notch. Muskie walleye pike and bass fishing is all great. The family can also go into Kenora for shopping or just sight seeing. Drive to Totem in Soiux Narrows then take a 1/2 hr boat ride on a 32 ft barge to Wiley Point |
