With Show season upon us, are there deals to be had purchasing a new boat at an actual 'Boat Show'? Or is it all Boat Show hype and I can pay the same (without the show pressure and headaches) at a dealer? Just curious, and thanks for your feedback. I've never purchased brand new but have been kicking the idea around.

There are deals at the shows, but you will need to have your ride priced out in advance to make sure when you approach a dealer at a boat show.

Also, watch out for undersized motors and "free" 5" electronics screens. It might be a really good time to ask about any 2014 models.

There are deals to be made.i t think a lot has to do with what boat your looking at. Last year at the Minneapolis boat show there were 2 different rangers dealers 2 skeeter dealers.all depends on what show you go to. You can get a better deal if you buy one they have in stock vs ordering one. It's like buying a car do your home work first so you know if it's a deal or just another line there giving you.

First poster hit it on the head. They have some good deals and they also get kickbacks from the dealer. But I think the best deals are done in January when there are more money back deals on boats and motors. I bought last year and worked a deal on two boats.

Remember, it's alot of work hauling the boats to the shows, the less they have to haul back home with them the better. Good time to deal!

Shows do have some pretty good deals.... However this was my experience the last time I bought a NEW Boat.
I had my eye on a certain boat at a show in MPLS. years ago. I really wanted this rig, but didn't qualify for a loan at that time.
14 months later it was still on the Dealers Lot for Sale. So I made a deal and paid $10,000. less than when I looked at it at the show.
The moral of this story is: Sometimes Patience does pay off....and Buy what you want. Never settle for Less.

Boat shows can be the best time to get the best deals on non-currents. Dealers really want to get them moved to make room for new models and free up floor plan. Most dealers are stocking fewer boats than they did 10 years ago and are motivated to keep their inventory current.

Plenty of good info here... Thanks for the feedback. I have already ran into the free electronics and small motors issues from sales reps. I really have no use for the free graphs - if I'm buying new I want it outfitted exactly how I want it.

It seems like some dealers are more pro-active in outfitting a boat 'my' way vs other dealers who are trying to convince me to do it 'their' way with 'their' package.

I suggest a couple of you go to the recycle Recycle Bin and look up the posting guidelines, please.

My apologies Steve. It will not happen again!

Something I noticed was that some of the manufacturers were offering extended warranties at the shows. Just another factor to consider.

working the Chicago show this week. there are some great deals going on. we have some boats marked 6k less than they were at the shop. depends on the brand, some want to increase their market share and are really going for it. I would definitely shop the shows this year. Bill
