| Did this one last year. Shimano Stradic Ci4 4000, Cabo 50/60, or Sustain 5000 if you have the budget. I got a great deal on the Stradic.

| Thanks for the info guys, I'm fairly new to the musky thing and would like to try some smaller baits. I figured spinning would be a little easier for the smaller baits. |

| Dont be afraid of casting rods reels. You just upgrade anyways and the baitcasters can launch the smallest of baits.
With that said a buddy loves his new Shimano Spheros. |

| Don't get me wrong I love my baitcasting set ups just want something for smaller swimbaits and jigs. |

| Penn. Catching Muskies on spinning gear is a lot more fun if you ask me. Not practical for big stuff but great for trolling small shad baits and casting jigs. St. Croix and Lamiglass make nice spinning rods. Got a nice four footer on a spin rod last year. Lot of fun. Just be careful when the water gets warm. Thats when I go to baitcasting to land them faster. |

| I find the Sustain's in the 3000 size are the best for me. the Stradic's are nice reels too and a little cheaper. I have 5000 sized spinning reels I use for Tarpon fishing I have tried them on musky and I just do nto think you get anything more from them other than weight that you would get from a high quality 3000 sized reel and you do nto need the line capacity you would for Tarpon |
