Location: indiana | I am looking for advice on the nine foot TI rods. I am considering the xh or the xxh. Mostly throwing double tens and mag dawgs. I like a little bit of a soft tip to keep fish pinned, but enough stiffness to not load up when doing figure eight. Any experience with these expectations would be appreciated. Todd |

Location: Otsego, MN | I got a XXH 9' this fall and used it for throwing DBL 10's, Mag dawgs, big cranks (triple D mostly) and liked the way each of those baits loaded up with it. I used it with DBL 9's for a short period and it was fine but I think anything smaller I would prefer a XH. The tip is plenty soft on these longer rods in most any decent brand so you get a good hook set and feel. |

| I have a 9 ft XH with a tranx pg that I use for exactly what you are looking for. Works very well with Double 10s and rubber up to mag size, have not tried to throw pounders with it but James at TI said that if I was going to be throwing pounders I would want the XX. Don't have a XXH yet so I can't compare the two. I have had VERY good luck keeping fish pinned with all of my 9ft TI rods. |

Location: MN | XH for what you describe. XXH for pounders. I thought my XH was gonna snap every time I launched a pounder last fall but it survived. I'll be getting the XXH before next season. |

Location: With my son on the water | I have the XXH TI 9 ft with a Tranx PG and it is my go to rod for 10's. That's all it throws.
I understand what you are saying about a soft tip keeping fish pinned but a soft tip also put the bend/force to hold the rod back into your hand/wrist. Figure 8ing is the worst part of 10's but you have to do it. Prior to using a 8'6" or 9' rod I lost fish but I haven't (yet) with the long rod.
I also cut the handle down a bit. the long handle always go caught on my inflatable life jacket that I ALWAYS wear. I also made and put a round junk of lead in the handle to balance the rod a bit.
The rod is custom fit for me and I absolutely love it.

Location: Land of the Musky | fishcrazed-Not sure if you will make it up to the Chicago show form IN but if you do stop by our booth. I will have 15 new 9' XH telescopic full camo rods with split grips. They look really cool  Plus you can touch and feel some rods for yourself. TI will have 4 musky guides in the booth too and all of them us TI rods full time for themselves and their clients. I always tell my pro staff to give good honest ratings on my rods. Good or bad attributes so you make the right decision for your specific needs and if we don't have the right rod for you I bet we know another brand to fit your needs and can help you out there too. | I run 9' XH's w/ a Tranx PG and a Lexa 400 and it handles everything up to magdawgs beautifully. I'll have an XXH dedicated to rubber next spring. Only thing that beats the value of these rods is the customer service.
At $130-150 they're something I'd take the "risk" on over and over. |

| Go xxheavy, I have both and the Xxheavy is what you want for the baits mentioned. Tip is very sensitive for the mega heavy rating, and you've got the extra backbone, not just a pounder rod boys. Those of you that are suggesting the xheavy, and haven't tried the dub X,yet,you really don't know what you missing.While in the figure 8 you have plenty more backbone left for good solid hooksets and it throws them real nice.While trolling, my boat partner and I noticed how great the tip on my xxheavy was,telegraphing what my bait was doing, a lot better than his xheavy from another brand.Not being as loaded up while pulling the big stuff like 13" beleivers, 12" slammers,plows, 14" jakes and other big fall baits, leaves room for sticking and fighting big fish. For the price, buy both and you'll still spend less than if you bought one comparable rod of another brand. |
