Posts: 88 | My dad and I got 6 twice this year. We lost several other fish that shook loose both days. Full moon day with high winds and rain. They were going crazy

Posts: 44 | 5 in a half day once and 4 in a half day twice. I Lost another one at the net on the 5 fish day. None were particularly big though. 38.5 was the biggest on the 5 fish day (if my memory serves me correctly) with the smallest being 28 and the rest in the mid 30 range. I was fishing solo each day. Come to think of it, I almost always fish alone (my kids are too young to go - I bring them along occasionally but they just go along for the ride). As an ardent bow hunter, I enjoy the peace and quiet of fishing alone.

Posts: 79 | 22 casting. 1 under 40" and 4 over 50". Crazy fun day. I have had a handful of 10 plus days, but it has been a few years since that has happened.

Posts: 617 Location: Clintonville, WI | My best day casting is six (plus three for boat partner). Nothing big, but all were between 35" - 43". On the last spot of the day, I was in la-la land and missed the fish that would have gotten us to double digits for the day. We're going to try beat that this weekend. ande's day is ridiculous! I'm not sure what there is left to accomplish after THAT day - a state record? a world record? hang up all the equipment for good.......?! I'm just sayin'.

I have had a handful of 10 plus days, but it has been a few years since that has happened. You don't get to play anymore. I'm pretty sure my max is 3 in a day. Has happened a handful of times, and once I caught 3 in about 5 consecutive casts, but I don't think I've ever caught more than that in one outing.

Posts: 2097 | six on mermorial weekend at cave run a few years ago. Caught one in the am, and did not see a fish until the evening where I caught 5 on one drift. Had a couple more hooked but let them get off before I netted them. I was getting tired of unhooking them. Edited by cave run legend 10/23/2014 2:29 PM

Posts: 3469 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hiya, I think the numbers have to be considered relative to the body of water being fished. Some lakes I have fished in Wisconsin are loaded with fish, but all are small... A 30 inch fish would be a decent sized fish and the potential to catch many is there. Lakes such as at Clair or the woods are also loaded with fish, so a blanket survey isn't really saying much here.. Those catching 10 or more in a day, that is great!! Makes for a banner day. Heck.. Even two caught by one person is worthy of note in a day. Steve. Edited by VMS 10/24/2014 7:49 AM

Posts: 79 | Thanks for the nice comments. I sure wish I could see a day like that again in Minnesota. Stacking numbers of big fish in Minnesota has been tougher in recent years. I would love to try LSC.

Like we all need more excuses to tell fish stories. Edited by LarryO 10/24/2014 2:43 PM

Posts: 4266 | 3- All on the same lure, a 6" Black/White Bobbie Bait. They started at 40" and got progressively bigger. The 40" was after breakfast, a 42" came about 2 hours later and hit about 4 feet from the boat, and bit the tail hook of the lure like he was just tasting it. The last fish was a 46" and it was the last muskie I ever kept. This was in 1978, and after a pull and two snaps, as the lure was rising and moving backwards, the fish came out of nowhere like a missile and swallowed the lure whole from behind. I set the hook and waited for a battle that never came. The water looked akin to a shark attack and the fish came lifelessly to the net. All that could be seen of the lure was about one inch of the nose. The tail and the back two hooks were in its throat and ripped out her gills where they met at the front of her throat. I don't think she had any blood left in her. I cut the line and drove to Bobby Vandervelder?s house to show him. "I guess she liked that one." he said and suggested I retire the lure and he gave me a new one to take it's place. It took a bit of cutting to get it back out, but I did what he suggested and retired the beat up lure. Every time I see that lure it is bittersweet. But as long as we fish for them there are going to be fatalities. I must say it was the most awesome strike that I have ever seen.Like a feeding Great White, so sure she was swallowing a fish like she had done 1,000 times before.
