https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_fM7xFHoXM . can there be too much noise in a bait where it becomes a repellent?

Posts: 369 | That does seem noisy but then again so is the double top raider. I would not have the hook hitting the blade though.

Posts: 351 | No one here is qualified to answer your question because, presumably at least, they do not have gills. Throw it and let the fish answer. I firmly believe that it's a good idea to have a spectrum of surface baits with various actions and sound choices just as you have a spectrum of crank baits, jerk baits, etc. As far as a build, that one is surely well done, and I love the hook clanking feature. Good work!

Posts: 179 Location: Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan | Have you ever seen the "Klack"??? I have used them and they are super loud, in fact they can be tuned to be real loud or more subtle, and they catch fish, trust me on that!!!

Klacks are priced right. Basically a Boogerman buzz bait on crack. lots o maintenance and tuning to that bait. I never used one but was told you need to burn them to keep em up? I certainly dont doubt they are great fish catchers and loud is right.

Posts: 397 Location: Wisconsin | Awesome bait. Obviously I havent heard it in person, but I think the design and sound is pretty cool from that video. Maybe the sound would be muffeled and lower toned a bit if you add weight to the head of the lure, sinking the baits head a half an inch or something, similar to the "dick gries" top kick??

Posts: 424 | Good job,Joe !!! IMO it'd be a great lure for peacock bass too (if you make/build a smaller version). Why ? Because your lure is perfect to be retrieved straight with jerks (the best retrieving for peacock bass ). If you are afraid about the hook hitting the blade . you can always change the treble hooks with two bigger ones. esoxone Edited by esoxone 9/8/2014 6:47 PM

I would love to make a smaller version but the problem is that the 4" prop weighs 2 ounces by itself. Its a real propeller used on those long shaft motors you see in asian swamps. I mounted the prop to a solid 1/4" diameter stainless shaft (prop has a 1/4" bore). The body had to be big to stay afloat. It weighs a hefty 14oz. best for trolling I guess. I do have 2 more props and just picked up some Kevlar/Carbon fiber hybrid fabric that im going to experiment with using a foam core in the body. I do have 1/4" solid aluminum shafts to ease the weight so maybe the next ones will be a bit smaller. I like the sound it makes but have not used it enough to know if the muskies do. Thanks Gents.

Posts: 364 Location: Central Wisconsin | I don't think a top water can be too loud. There is a time for a subtle topwater and a loud topwater. Also if it's super loud above water doesn't mean it's that loud below the water. Great sounding unique bait!
