Doubt you'd get equal Tranx performance, i.e. 4.6:1 = 30 IPT, but maybe you'd still get enhanced performance, i.e. 4.6:1= 27 IPT? |

actually the lexa 400 does already fill that niche. Fishing with both I am guessing the tranx will last longer, but there is not a noticeable difference in performance other than 3 IPT. Both work great. |

While the lexa 400 may fill that niche, we aren’t really talking about if there is something that fills that niche. Shimano could decide that they want to offer a 400 Tranx that would be 4.6:1 with 27 IPT and I’d take that over the lexa 400. The question though is really if they think there is enough of a market for both a Tranx 400 and the Calcutta 400D. |

Point being a tranx 300 would not perform much different than a curado 300, what would be the benefit of the change? Just to able to charge $300 dollars more? |

| Or you could put $250 in your pocket and get the newer version of the Diawa Saltist 20 series and install Earth Magnets. 35" line pick up , once you get the magnets correct your in business. Same weight, Bult like a TANK... And will blow double 10'S out of the water..(Really Will) But still No Lefty.... |

| I suspect they'll eventually turn the calcutta into a low profile reel.
One thing we need to be aware of is that muskie anglers do not drive the market for these reels, saltwater anglers do. Actually there are a TON of things that cross over from saltwater to muskie fishing. As bass anglers try to cast heavier presentations (umbrella rigs/large swim baits), they are taking from muskie angling. My buddy's favorite flippin stick is a 8'6" mojo muskie |
