I can understand introducing Tigers in Germany with a similar climate to the Upper Midwest, but do you know the story behind introducing Muskies in North Africa?

Cedar: Sorry I have no clue on the N. Africa deal. Was told about it by the late Dr. E.J. Crossman, but that was many years ago and I can't recall what, if anything else, we discussed about it other than it was French Morocco.

What about the one with a smaller pike Tboned in it`s mouth? Were false reports it came from US but Jack Penny said that was just a story and the fish is European. That was a slob wherever it came from.

What if stock muskie in Austria, Russia and even England so will musky grow much larger than USA? So many soft fin fishes ...carp, roach, chub, rudd, bream, dace, and many more!

Clark A. I too would love to go to Austria. My Dad was there in WWII and said it was beautiful. I wouldn't set a foot in Africa again was there in 1993-1994. Disgusting place on earth.

HANS79: I didn't post that pic since it was already on my other thread. I seriously doubt it was anywhere near 70-inches, but it is indeed a real monster and maybe the largest ever taken in N. America.

Ace: Good to hear from you ol' friend. I am well aware that there are some giant pike in Vermilion. Fishing with Ed Tausk a few years back, he managed to lose one around 47-inches trying to horse it into the back of the boat! I too won't be surprised if a 50-inch pike comes out of there soon. Here's another picture of a 50” class pike that I just received from Jan (The Pike Ferret) Eggers this morning. I invited Jan to join us here on MF because he has some great pike stories, and of course lots of pictures of mammoth pike that would help to combat the cabin fever epidemic.

Good to hear from you and to see the pics and text about big pikes. I am still collecting data and pics of giant pike and write the odd article for the websites of German magazines and also the Classic Angling magazine. Just look at these sites, www.raubfisch.de www.fischundfang.de www.classictitles.com . The current issue of Classic Angling is no 87 and it is not mentioned on the website.

I only do articles I like for I am officially retired, allowed when you are 71 years young, and still spend a lot of time pike fishing. Looking at all these pikes from Canada and USA make me realize there is a lof of difference, both in maximum length and girth.

In June 2012 I saw the longest pike caught during the 19 times I fished in Canada, 128 cm caught by youngster Andy Breker and I’ll look for that picture. Enough for now, my wife calls for lunch, keep in touch. Best regards

Hi folks.Loved the BIG muskies and pike threads.
Here's a scottish legend.The Endrick pike head,measuring 12.5 inches and estimated at 70lb.Found dead on the bank of Loch lomond in the '30's.

Sorting files and found this 1990 British record pike of 45 pounds 12 ounces caught by Gareth Edwards, caught on a #5 silver Mepps Aglia Long "after it had refused to take live bait."! This one, as most there, was released after weighing.
