I've been making so many dark colored skirts lately, so I decided to lighten things up a little.

Here are a few finished bucktails i made for my trip up to Eagle River, The blue fox is one that i found while out fishing and cleaned up, new hook and added a skirt. Finally took the time to make a few for myself. I love using a trailer blade, especially when i have a hot follow, watching that blade tickling the nose of a big musky is priceless, chomp chomp!!

An ol reliable black and red with single french blade, not as flashy as some of the new styles but almost always good for a fish. I like the french blades because my friends are able to use this with smaller reels. After orange produced so well up north last weekend I decided to deck this one with bright double 8's for a friend of mine who will be visiting the same area in a couple weeks.

Thanks, I've seen you do great work yourself. I had a lot of requests the month prior to opener and there still coming in which is a good thing, but makes it hard to get out fishing after work.

The dark blue/orange bucktail was built in Memory of a good friend of mine, I picked up the dark blue tail because he was a huge bears fan, He passed in february and I never got the chance to make it for him. My friends just opened up Big Worms Hot Spot Bait shop on Lake Wisconsin where this one will stay in Memory of Mike Kittle, aka Big Worm!

Thanks so much Elijah for the donations. Those are great colors and should produce some fish for the lucky winners. I'm a "smaller" blade fan so I will have to put a few extra bucks on trying to get one or both of these.

What's nice is if you guys like EK's bucktails it sounds like Big Worms bait shop in WI will carry a good selection of his work.

Thanks Targa, the crazy parrot looking bucktail is one i made last year with a bunch of left over packages of material. Thats a good size bucktail and may need sometime to soak before all the feathers are wet, I figured that minnesota has some big waters/muskie so what the heck. it has#8 fluted blades, 7/0 hook, 1/2 oz egg sinker and alot of skirt, I left room for someone to add an additonal front hook if they'd like too. I've been getting a lot of request for smaller bucktails this year and have been using them more often myself. the smaller one has #7 black nickel indiana blades 1/4oz weight, blk white marabou, a few black hackle feathers with dyed pearl peacock flashabou mixed throughout. Feel free to keep me in mind for up coming events. Big Worms bait shop will be carrying my lures and if they do not have something you like, they have my number on speed dial! Good luck to all anglers fishing the event.

I've been teaching my brother how to make jigs and bucktails over the last couple years. I was very impressed with what he brought over last night and wanted to share some of his work. They include Regal fluted willow blades, diatchi hooks, marabou, hackle, bucktail and couple with a trailer blade. I've watched the quality of his work get better with everyone he does and nothing beats sharing the same passion with your own Brother! Nice job Levi! I cant wait to see what the off season brings us.

I have had some requests for some spinner baits this summer and finally decided to pick up some forms. I used the firetiger the last two time out and was having a blast banging it off the timber and the fish were hammering it. Lost quite a few before finding a trailer hook in my box that helped finally hook a couple. I need to find a better trailer hook though for the future, any suggestions? I've been fishing these in stained water on the Wis. River and the Copper blades have been working the best all year on both Bucktails and now Spinners. Also for guys just getting started building your own, the black skirt and double orange bucktails has been a go to thats fairly easy to build and works well on most lakes.

Making up some pre tied trebles and wanted to share for the guys who are just starting to tie their own. I start by putting a base layer of thread, then added the flash, then I like to add a few marabou feathers that do not have large quills, then layer of bucktail, then a little more flash, then another layer of bucktail. The marabou really gives it a full body but still light enough to allow for good hook set. the marabou also soaks up water allowing for longer casts if you need it. These are great to have for back ups when cutting hooks. Total length is a little over 5 inches on a 5/0 hook.

I was very happy with the way this pre tied treble turned out. a few layers with siver flash mixed throughout it. I always make sure to use select quills of marabou, only using feathers with a very small if any quill at all to eliminate to much bulky build up around the hooks shank. This has helped me to maintain a full body skirt with great action and still for a high hooking percentage and penetration.

made up 10 pretied trebles for a fellow M1 member. 5/0 and 3/0 hooks. One thing i really try and do is make sure that there isnt too much build up around the hooks so that the material doesnt get in the way during hook sets.

White/red flash w/ french blade, Orange, Yellow, Red bucktail w/ Dyed orange, yellow and chart. flash. both with French blades. I like to have a lot of contrast for tails. these have been a great size for those who want something that will catch bass, pike and musky. Great all around bucktail.
