Posts: 142 Location: Appleton, WI | PIKEMASTER- I have a Stella 2500FA that was recently at Shimano for service. They no longer have parts for it. I've located the parts and now just need the reel put back together with new parts, along with a full lube. Is this something you offer?

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Hi I'm Richard W Schmitz aka PikeMaster, I will Detail, Tune and Relube any Baitcaster reels, Here is the details and prices please read. Reel Detailing/Cleaning Your bait casting reel will be taken completely apart and all components and bearings will be thoroughly sanitized and striped of all grime and old factory oil and grease in a heated Ultra Sonic Cleaner. All reel parts will be inspected for damage and wear, and then the reel will be reassembled while checking for proper alignment of all reel parts. The main and pinion gears along with any frame bearings will be greased and all the spool bearings will be lubed. I have dry lubes and a variety of wet lubes with Polar Bonding Technology and Corrosion Inhibiting Properties for use on bearings and all friction parts inside the reel. Also the reel frame and the inside of the side plates will have a Corrosion Inhibition coating applied. Super Tuning/Pimping Super Tuning/Pimping is basically several steps of polishing all reel contact points in the reel that have friction. I start polishing with 400 grit and work up to 1200 grit, once all the polishing is completed; all parts receive a final polish with a metal polishing compound to a mirror like finish. This will give your reel a much smoother feel and less effort to cast and retrieve a lure. Following are items that I work on when Super Tuning/Pimping a reel. • The main shaft on the spool where the pinion gear rest together • Inside the pinion gear • The shim in the cast control knob • The inside of the brake drum, on most models • Inside the drive gear where the drag washer sits • The bottom side of the driver gear • Inside the drive gear were it rests on the main shaft • The main shaft were the driver rest • The top of the anti-ratchet washer • The bottom of the key washer • The worm gear • All washers and e-clips • The metal drag washers (only on Bass Reels) ***For maximum performance for your reel Pimp My Rod & Reel can upgrade the spool bearing to ABEC 4, 7, 9 Stainless Steel or Ceramic bearings. Then for the smoothest drag Pimp My Rod & Reel can upgrade the reel drag system to Carbonate drag washers from Smooth Drags. I coat all drag washers with Cal’s drag grease, this will waterproof the drag washers and give them a very smooth start up. If you ever use a reel that has been Super Tuned/Pimped, you will be sold for life! 1. A super tuned/pimped bait caster will far out cast a normal “off the shelf” bait caster: in any casting/fishing situation. A must have advantage if you are fishing from the back of the boat. 2. A super tune/pimped bait caster is much more controllable than a stock reel as the angler can cast a lure the same distance as a normal bait caster with much less speed input to the rod, reducing angler fatigue and giving the angler more time to thumb the spool and place the lure right where it needs to be, 3. A super tuned/ pimped bait caster will give consistent and linear tension adjustment throughout the entire cast control range thus eliminating the “ not enough tension” to “too much tension” dilemma inherit in many bait caster reels. 4. A super tuned/pimped bait caster will increase the braking effect of reels centrifugal braking system and cause it to perform in a much linear, consistent fashion which actually increases long distance casting. 5. A super tuned/pimped bait caster will throw much lighter lured than a stock bait caster as its moment of inertia has been lessened due to reduced friction on the spool shaft. This can possibly eliminate the “need” of using a spinning reel in certain situations thus bringing the bait caster reels huge advantage of control and power into play. Pimp My Rod & Reel 1. Reel Detailing/Cleaning $25.00 per reel, plus an extra $3.00 charge for extreme dirty reels. 2. Reel Repair or parts installation $5.00 per reel plus cost of reel parts. 3. Reel Super Tuning/Pimping your reel $10.00 per reel, reel must be cleaned first. 4. Pimp my Rod & Reel offers performance Parts for most reels, from ABEC 5-7-9 S.Steel, and ceramic bearings, worm shaft bearings, drag washers upgrades “Carbontex” washers, gearing upgrades and upgrades to anti/reverse systems on select reels. Also I can order Carbon Fiber four bearing handles for your reels or Power Handles. Please e-mail or call me for reel consultation on upgraded parts or performance parts for your reels. 5. Posts: 134 | Hey pikemaster, I was thinking about putting a power handle on my 401te. I have heard of some guys complaining about te's with power handles engaging mid cast? Any thoughts or are they just bad at casting? Thanks!

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | andreula - 3/22/2013 4:02 PM Hey pikemaster, I was thinking about putting a power handle on my 401te. I have heard of some guys complaining about te's with power handles engaging mid cast? Any thoughts or are they just bad at casting? Thanks! Some guys have no problems and some do, it's how you cast the reel, if U use your upper body to cast U will have problems, if you turn the reel sideways handle down and use your wrist and let the rod cast your bait the reel will never engage. I do have a 5" double paddle power handle that will not engage the reel for $30.00 plus $ 6.00 to ship.

Posts: 190 Location: Savage, MN | Hey pikemaster. Is there any reason I couldn't switch the power handle on my 300ej and the paddles on one of my 400b's? It appears that the nuts are just slightly different and therefore can't be switched which in turn would let the cap covering the nuts to work. Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | Ron, what exactly do you want to achieve by doing so? Depending on your answer, I doubt any gutting is required. Let me know.

Can a Calcutta 400 be gutted to make it a 400B Thanks, Ron The 400 Calcutta does not have a backup pawl for the AR Bearing, but I can add it to the 400. All ther parts are the same. I also add a bearing to the drive shaft replacing the plastic bushing, and add a bearing to the spool, so whem I'm done with a older 400 it is the same as a newer 400B.

Posts: 456 Location: Kansas City BBQ Capitol of the world | "Ron, what exactly do you want to achieve by doing so? Depending on your answer, I doubt any gutting is required. Let me know." Propster, I think the 400 I have has a gear ratio of 4.7:1 and is slow on the pick up. I'd like to pick that up to where a B would B.

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | Gotcha. Then no need to "gut". Just need to put in the drive bearing and pinion bearing of a B. But I'd consider having PM add the AR Pawl at same time. Whether you add the spool and drive shaft bearings is another question.

Posts: 46 | Do you have any information about the ICAST show for 2013? I saw that it is July 9-12 in Las Vegas. Is the public invited like at SEMA or is it invitation only event with no public access? I was just curious if you were planning on attending or have been in the past? Justin Houlihan Chicago,IL
