Posts: 267 | Although I dont make it Up North near as much as Id like, when I do go, there are a few restaurant/bar establishments I absolutely must visit for a "shore lunch" when it comes time to take a break after a long day of casting. Most of these places are as much (or more) about the people/conversation/fish stories and Northwoods history/flavor as they are about the food or libation. Visiting places such as these can certainly add to the over all experience and joy of any trip I take. Just wondering what a few of your on-the-water favorites are and which Chain might have a good number of choices to choose from? One of my personal favorites has to be stopping in at Bents Camp for a "Wisconsin Tower" - three tiers of fried walleye fingers, cheese curds and mushrooms coupled w a cold one, view of the lake and history of the place is hard to beat.

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | Famous Dave's on Round Lake gets my business whenever I'm fishing those deep lakes over der. A few tall beers and a rack o ribs with loaded baked potato. Big W, I use the other landing on the TFF and hit the Round Up on the way home. Fried chicken.

Posts: 639 Location: Hudson, WI | Angler's Haven on Lac Courte Oreilles. Always packed, but their pizza is worth the wait. They have a pizza that should be illegal. It's a mustard-type sauce with beer braised/grilled brats sliced up on it. Grilled onions, a little kraut and a Wisconsin amount of cheese. Actually, every pizza there is great and I guess their burgers are top notch. That particular pizza is memorable though.

Posts: 1120 Location: West Chester, OH | 2nd for Hillside on LVD for Friday "all you can eat fish & chicken." The fish is good & the chicken is out-of-sight. Be prepared to wait for a table but the place has real character & a good view of "Big Windy."

Location: SE Wisconsin | Pine Isle on the shores of Medicine Lake of the Three Lakes Chain is a nice place to get food and drink - nothing special, but friendly bar staff and decent food for a bar & grill. Pine Harbor or the Jailhouse on Boom Lake/Wisconsin River in Rhinelander are decent establishments. Sweetwater along the Eagle River between Yellow Birch and Watersmeet of the ER Chain, as well as Braywood on Catfish Lake on the ER chain are not too bad of choices either. Fibbers on Big St. Germain and Black Bear Lodge on Little St. Germain are also good choices I frequent.

There’s sooo many places to choose from on the Big Chip. When fishing up on the northside I like to get a bloody mary from Treelend’s, it’s a meal in a glass! When fishing down on the darkside I like to stop in the Little Red Bar for an ice cold leinney. But at the end of the day, my favorite place is the Big Musky bar, it has great character and my trailer is just a short stumble away…

Posts: 440 | Very hard to go past R&R Bayview when on the Chip. Truck automatically stops at the Wanigon on the way by. Don't understand it, but the truck just stops so we get out.

Posts: 3240 Location: Racine, Wi | Definitely love the Patch up in Mani. Have to go with a nice sloppy Cajun burger though. Like the Lower Unit for on the water cocktails mid day with a super sub too. The dock cams are fun to mess with your buddies that are working too and can check their website out during the day when you're up nort and they are slaving away.

Location: Altoona IA | Oh The WI Tower. Brings a tear to my eyes thinking about it. Not long now Bro. Also agree with the Pea Patch, Lower Unit, Highlander (or what ever it will be called this year), Thirsty Whale and Belle Isle (Minocqua). Goose we'll have to check out some of these other recommendations. Attachments ---------------- WITowerJPG.JPG (135KB - 129 downloads)

Goose we'll have to check out some of these other recommendations. The Highland Club. It's been the Broken Oar for the last five years. The new owners name is Jeff and he is an avid Muskie fisherman. He is also a Rhinhart and his dad owns the taxidermy academy so he has some awesome mount in the bar of all species of wildlife.

Posts: 1220 | Can't believe three votes for the Pea Patch (actually not on the water) cuz I had a terrible night there last summer. Tried and tried to go to sleep but a woman kept yelling, "You're killing me, you're killing me." I tried to shut it out but I just couldn't. She was just screaming at the top of her lungs, "YOU'RE KILLING ME, YOU'RE KILLING ME!! My feeling is that if you pay good money for a motel room, you shouldn't have to spend that whole night being reminded of the the kind of lover that you aren't, never were and never will be!!! I guess the burgers were OK

Posts: 3240 Location: Racine, Wi | Definitely wouldn't stay at the PP Motel, but the foods good, drinks are cold, and we have had way too much fun there over the years not to make it a stop. I do find myself at the Rustic a bit more as of late, just because it's closer to the cabin. They have decent food there too, and cold beer.

Posts: 97 Location: Milwaukee, WI | Deerfoot burgers on the Chip are hard to beat. New ownership is a plus, too. Breakfast at the R&R is fantastic, as was already mentioned. Hard to argue with a bloody mary with every order! I also enjoy the Idle Hour and the Moose-Jaw on the Pike-Round chain when I am up there.

Posts: 3469 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | The artesian well just north of Outing Minnesota, now located by the fish hachery. Used to stop there every time I went north when it was along the road. It was so popular that accidents occurred there at times so they re-routed it with pipe next to the hatchery so it was away from the road. That was some really good water...Cold, and definitely thirst quenching!! Steve
