Even though West Virginia doesn't seem to be well know for muskie fishing, there seem to be several very well known lures made in WV. Here are the ones I can think of:

- Tuff Shads
- Crane Baits
- Hughes River Baits
- Amma Bamma Baits
- Cobb Lures
- Willys Bucktails
- Deadheads by Widowmaker lures (don't think these are still being made)

Does anyone know of others made in WV? How about other states with great lure production?

Merry Christmas!

I am originally from Wausau, now living in Antigo (WI), and this little town (population 8500) is responsible for millions of suicks and mepps lures. My neighbor has tied squirrel hair on trebles for over 20 years now.

I was glad to see Suick buy Muskie Mojo Tackle and expand their line up as well as Mepps finally come out with a twin 10 bucktail.

Cool! Thanks for the responses. Didn't know about those from WV and suicks and mepps are truly legendary baits. I figured there would be good ones from WI.

I am fairly new to this site and didn't know this topic had been covered before. I found this thread from last year:

http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=51...

Also, I saw where Chris Hamrick is making 8" plastic tuff shads now too. Can't wait to get a couple!!!

Myers Musky Lures are made in Crawford, WV by me. Been making lures for a little over a year now.

Jerry Myers
Myers Musky Lures

For those who know what I am talking about, I am NOT the Jerry "Musky" Myers that was "well known" around this state. This has been an obstical for my lure business here in WV!

Many years ago, being from Minnesota I learned at the end of a pretty knock down drag out scrap that the proper terminology is "West By-God Virginia" I walked away with a whole new respect for the state!

The Deadheads by Widowmaker Lures are still made and are some pretty baits! I've got a few in my tackle box:

The Myers Musky Baits also have some nice action, Jerry's cranks have a real nice action:

Don't forget about the musky flies that are tied in WV :). A couple of buddies as well as myself tie musky flies.. They aren't on the market, but are effective.. A couple of my other friends make some double bladed bucktails and spinnerbaits as well. There are times I will see twice the fish on them than I do on showgirls and cowgirls.
