| Buddy got this a couple days ago, he's wondering after the fact if it is a tiger. I know about pores and fin profile, but all I saw was this pic. My first notion was no, because body of water has no northerns or natural reproduction. But interested in the opinions and expertise of esox nation.
Is it possible that tiger fingerlings get intermingled at dnr hatcheries or private fish farms?

| This looks like a Tiger Muskie... to me, sir... but, it might not be. Nice fish.

| The reason I believe it may be a Tiger Muskie is the shape of the head... and the back portion of the body. The shape of the head and the tail resemble what you usually only see in Tiger Muskies. The width between the bottom and top of the fin is also very tall... along with what can be consider a larger than normal dorsal-fin. Pure Muskies are simply shaped, differently. |

| Tiger Muskies are a fairly popular aquarium fish... and some people release them into lakes and rivers when they out-grow their tank.

What type of lure and technique was he using? Just curious. Like so many others, I've caught them on anything from high dollar glide baits to skirted bass jigs. I had to ask, though, because every now and then you get a surprise answer. A few years back, Idaho's state record was caught on a little trout spinner. I think that fish was, and may still be, the world record. |
