From the Minnesota Musky Pike Alliance:

"OK everyone we’re almost there, I know this is no fun but it will be something you can be proud to be a part of in a few days if we can keep up the pressure.

We need to call Rep Daudt and Sen Gazelka and tell them to remove the wasted $100,000.00 for the survey on stocking popularity and the moratorium on Muskie Stocking in Ottertail County.

CALL ASAP. They are cutting and modifying the bill now..... This is the time. Be respectful and pleasant. "

Representative Kurt Daudt (R)
Speaker of the House
651-296-5364 or 800-710-7642

Majority Leader
Paul E. Gazelka (R)
3113 Minnesota Senate Bldg.
651-296-4875

Urgent! Call now! Leave a message! ToddM, if you call I think you'll boat a 50 this year!

This could be turned into “the number game.” Post when you’ve called and that’s your number. Compiling them in one thread with a number would give a better sense of how many off of this site have called or otherwise have become involved.

If the situation didn't change on an hourly basis that'd probably work.

doing the $100,000 survey seems like a waste of money, but the data collected could be an end all to this mess!

You do surveys to get the answer to fit your agenda.

Wrong. If you eliminate musky stocking and then do the survey you've already biased the survey. The legislator pushing this also wants to increase walleye stocking during that timeframe, further biasing the survey. Absolutely zero good would come from the proposed survey. This subject has been studied to death. They're trying to create a biased survey to fit their agenda.

I agree that a survey can help our case. That said, I struggle to see how this couldn't be accomplished with the simple questions when renewing a fishing license.

It's not just the moratorium on stocking it's the reduced size limits and restrictions on spearing. That is what will make the trophy Muskie and in Minnesota the fish of 10,000 casts.

Newest update: the bill remains. Will require Governor veto, please call Governor Dayton and urge veto of Omnibus bill containing anti musky language.

I didn't say eliminate stocking then do a survey. I suggested doing a survey.
Ingebritson states there hasn't been a survey since the 54" length has been established and thinks that because these fish are now almost 5 feet long that the fishery is out of balance' I think a survey may just disprove this.
I don't think the DNR or the state of Minnesota should fund this.
Ottertail county has muskies in 2 of the 1000 plus lakes in their county and they feel threatened by a Muskie take over

Right, but the survey is tied a moratorium on stocking in Otter tail county, to be paid for with $100,000 out of the game and fish fund. Dinglebritson has openly said he wants to then increase walleye stocking. Any guesses what that would do to a study? The study as proposed is already a farce and will yield results we do not want. Not to mention the cherry picked stakeholder group he wants too.

The topic has been studied to death, it doesn't need more. To be frank, the ones pushing this don't give a flying fig about any of the science.

Hiya,

Keep the emails, phone calls, etc. coming. We can get this done!!

On another thread, it was mentioned on surrounding the Governor's mansion with Trucks and Rigs as a small quiet protest to this bill. I like this idea, and if we get some local news there, it could make a big enough note to the governor.

I'd pull my boat there!!

Steve
