I am headed to Lake Vermilion in early August this year for a week. This will be my first time on Big V so I am looking to hire a guide for a day or two instead of just trying to "wing it" and figure it out on my own. After a google search I find a long list of names. I am sure they are all great guides but would appreciate any recommendations. We are staying on the east end if that matters.

Can;t go wrong with Matt Snyder or Luke Ronnestrand. Matt is on Vermilion, all year. Sometimes Luke may follow the bite, eslewhere. Both guys are great to fish with, and are the best on Vermilion!

Yes Luke still guides. I’m sure someone here can give you his number. Seifert is also a Muskie master. I’d say those 2 are the best, along with bob benson.

+1 for Josh Borovsky

He's an amazing guide. I believe he put up a 56 and 55(?) on the same day last year? He's an even better teacher though and comes from a teacher background. Had him for the master the metro package on Tonka. First September on Tonka we put 18 in the net including a 50 and 51 using his teachings.

I'D go with Luke,... or Steve at Spring bay.. both of these guys are always Dialed in on the Bite.... Josh B. would be another choice along with Matt Snyder... All 4 0f these guys have been around for a long time... Steve has been there longer , he grew up on the Lake.. and has been fishing it for about 20 some years.
I don't guide , but have over 2,500 hrs in 16 yrs fishing Big V. Love this Place.

Matt Snyder is fun to be around. He's also a great fisherman. Don't think you would be disappointed after fishing with him for a day.

I have fished with several of the guys mentioned. Josh Borovsky is great instructor and has endless energy. You will wear out and be ready to quit long before he is.

Jeremy Johnson out of Whispering Winds Resort. Its far West End but he is a heck of a lot of fun to fish with and knows where the big girls are. He's put multiple people I know on their first 50' and given me and my buddies enough knowledge to have success there most of the year.

Steve from Spring Bay and Mike Brown have both put us on fish and been a lot of fun to fish with. Both work hard and have given us some spots that are now part of our regular rotation. Great guys!

Great to hear Anthony. I'd like to hear how it all turns out for you, seriously. If nothing else maybe even a PM would be appreciated.

Only because of your thread I actually found a guide myself, Josh Borovsky and scheduled a full day w/a buddy. I'll respond in like manner if you wish.

I never would've done this if you'd not posted the query....I'm a cheap bugger!

Jeremy.
