I am debating between these 2 with side imaging
Have any of you used both of these and do think the extra price for the 12 is worth it

i have the 10 and love it, but i would have bought the 12 if i had room on my dash. if you got the $ and the room i'd go for it. i NEVER heard anyone say "i wish i had a smaller screen" !

You will not regret getting the biggest screen size you can afford when it comes to SI

X2 on the above.
I regretted getting the smaller version so much I felt like Chris Farley in one of his "Gawd.. I'm so STUPID!" skits.

If you fish lakes with hazards, especially new areas or water the bigger you can make the map the better.

Let me ask you a serious question. As a die hard Humminbird guy myself, since I got rid of a Lowrance 350A years ago, are you really stuck on Humminbird and their out of line pricing? If you are not, then do yourself a favor and take serious look at the Lowrance Elite 12 with the 12inch touchscreen. It is on sale at Bass Pro for $1499 regular $1999. I might have to have one of them myself @ $1499 just for my pontoon.

That Humminbird Helix 12 WITHOUT MEGA is discontinued and should be priced at $999...I would NEVER pay $1499 for a discontinued model.

There is more to consider than just screen size. HB Helix 12 pixel count: 1024 x 600. HB Solix 10 pixel count: 1280 x 800.

The reason I was going to get the HELIX was the 3 people I know who know fish finders upside down backwards and inside and out all 3 recommend the HELIX
1 guy is A guide
1 is A Humminbird rep
1 just knows everything about fish finders

I paid $809 for my Helix 10 (Gen 1) Huge upgrade from the the 597ciDI I had. Also added a 7 with DI up front and another 7 on the dash for CHIRP and mapping.

I just checked my Amazon orders and the unit I purchased is $750 more. I guess I got lucky. You'd think they'd be going down in price, not up. I got mine in OCT. That's a big jump.
