Location: Anoka | Haven't experienced anything wrong with the 400 or 300 series yet and i love that the double paddle handle has a huge throw. Best part about um is the non-disengaging level wind. |

| I like the 471SS reels I have, they are pretty #*^@ tough and rugged reels which can both handle some very large fish at their maximum drag settings or handle any number of lure presentations you might use; the frame is very ridged. Their ruggedness and ability to excell as a multispecies and multipurpose reel are the biggest reasons I like them so much.
Refinement isn't their strong suit though as they do have a some geariness to them due to the stainless steel gearing. It never has bothered me, but it is something to consider if refinement is a preference of yours.
I have compared casting distance of this reel with other big low pros and once you hit the 3oz mark and up, I have noted little difference, under 3oz and your other low pros will begin to outcast this reel for distance.
IMHO there are better options for pure lure reels out there, but if you want a reel for a bit of everything or for the heavier lures, the Komodo 471SS is going to one of the best options. |
