Posts: 146 Location: Alsip, IL | I go to the Chicago show but have always been just a casual spender. I'd say always less than 500 bucks. If you go to a vendor and buy 4 LT rods and a couple reels do they knock anything off, or are they pretty haggle free?

Last year at the Columbus Show Musky Maxx or Road Rules not sure which one it was called but the Thorne Bros stand was giving 20% of all Rods except Predator which were 10% off and if you buy Rod you get 20% off your whole purchase Great deal IMO you save $80 on LT rods cant beat that and 10% off Predator and no shipping great as well....Bought Predator last year hoping they have new LT Rods this Year want new Big Nasty

Posts: 556 | I have been to the Chicago show Most every year as it is close to me---- I would have to say I have seen very few if any deals on anything ... Why -- maybe because it is the first show of the season--No reason to discount out early... But I would think if you were going to make a big purchase that a savings discount could maybe be made.

Posts: 347 Location: Vilas County, WI | I'm brand loyal to St Croix - both LT and Premier. Over the years I have never found a deal or special on them. No matter the vendor, they are always list price with no movement from that number.

Posts: 1667 | Maybe you need to become $$$ loyal vs brand loyal. St. Croix are good but I have yet to have a conversation with a fish that knew what type of rod caught him.

Posts: 537 Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | I’ve purchased multiple rods and reels over the last few years, most at the shows. Huge deals to be had ,if you ask.

Location: Hayward WI | Go to the St. Croix website, they re-designed the LT lineup and you can get them about $100 off this week, they don't have every mode..............http://stcroixrods.com/shop/rods/

Posts: 941 Location: Freedom, WI | esox911 - One of the reasons you do not see to many discounts at Chicago is the costs to go there. There is also a 10% sales tax that if they do not charge you the vendors pay it. Yes it is the first show of the season also. The last few years I have been having a clearance box(one for each show I go to) which usually does not last long.

Posts: 1220 | I too would take a look at St Croix’s site, also try to make certain they have your email too. An email last week for Black Friday deals would have blown you away. I’m certain there’s more to come. New stuff is always great but those discontinued LTs are a jewel worth having!

Posts: 1220 | One thought about the shows, I am always amazed at the long lines, ridiculous waiting, and the unconscionable resellers of this years magic bullet. It’s because when I spend my actual summer fishing with and against truly the best musky anglers in the world (them not me) I don’t see those baits very often to the point of hardly at all. It’s really the same few baits you see the top sticks tying on. My advice for 2018; you probably have the baits you need! Buy new braid, new leaders, better hooks, and the best rod and reel you can afford! Then sell all the baits you never caught a fish on eBay and use the money to pay for those smarter items.

Posts: 401 | I am excited to announce that I will teaming up with Beaver Baits during the show season. More details to come on a special offer in the next few days. They will have a limited supply of rods for sale but more importantly this is your chance to design your own stick over 9 feet without having to worry about shipping charges. I will be building on the complete line of St. Croix rod blanks, TI, and my own Edge series blanks that combine durability, power, and performance! Order now and they will be completed for you to pick up in Chicago! Edited by Professional Edge 12/7/2017 8:43 AM

Location: Contrarian Island | Keith made me 3 new rods on the new blank he has in the last couple months...one is a beast for big rubber. The other one I just got reminds me a lot of the old Diamondback rods he built ~10+ yrs ago. The latest one he built is 9' and is a killer big blade rod.. can't wait to use em in 2018. For a custom rod his price can't be beat. Edited by BNelson 12/7/2017 9:21 AM

Posts: 14 | With regard to show deals, on Muskie Friday at the Chicagoland fishing show at the Renaissance hotel, during Joe Buchers seminar he mentioned the switch to the 7'10" BassX St. Croix as an alternative to sling muskie baits for the older guys or if you have a bad wing. I went to the St. Croix booth and they walked me over to a couple of vendors and they offered a nice 15% off. I probably wouldn't have gotten that deal on my own. It is a nice alternative and can handle a pretty decent size bait. Also check out Corens Rod and Reel on Nina just east of Harlem ave. They sell rods on consignment and always have solid used St. Croix muskie rods available.
