Russell's Sport & Bike in Star Prairie (western WI) had suckers last Sat.  About $10/ea.

Not "south" metro, but Blue Ribbon Bait in Oakdale had a good selection last week.  Didn't check pricing.

Ben's Bait by Battle Lake sold some dinky suckers for $10 a piece and wanted $12 for bigger ones, which they didn't have. Won't be going there again.

Try Burnsville Shell & Bait. If you need 15 or more call before Thursday to place your order.

I bought suckers there on Friday and its $12 per sucker up to 16", then $15 per sucker over 16". Just checked the receipt in my wallet.

That's what I heard as well. You are NOT getting suckers for $8 a pop at Thorne's unless you are getting a massive friends and family discount.

Paid $7.00 for nice average suckers in Eagle River Saturday morning. They had giants too but I didn’t inquire the price. I don’t want the big suckers to scare away the 33 inchers I target. Don’t like cleaning the big ones.

I haven't. I've heard that they weren't doing suckers anymore, but haven't really checked.

I've got other sources, just happened to be fishing Battle with a buddy that day and normally Ben's has decent suckers, but after that price gouging for spearing decoy sized suckers....never again.

Might not really be price gouging. Maybe that is all their supplier had, and they were just adding there standard markup?

it's called Economics 101. Suckers use to be 3-4 bux in MN... then the dealers started realizing they could get 10-12 for them. Can ya blame em for upping the price? the suppliers have tons of them, it is not a supply issue in MN...simple supply and demand.. if you don't want to pay it, don't.

Correct, it was their standard price. It depends on what pond they pull from on what size they have, we just happened to be there on a day they pulled from a pond full of dinks. I get that they can sell them for that price because people buy them, my buddy bought 4. Once musky season is over and ice fishing/spearing season rolls around those exact same suckers sell for the $3-4 price Brad mentions. They know musky guys will buy them so it's simple economics. Still, there are enough places around for much cheaper and more reliable sizes that I don't need to waste my time going there. I was simply putting it out there for people who may be looking for suckers in this area. I'm not going to divulge my sources openly, because I can get them cheap enough and if more people start using them they might up their price.

Keep in mind that gas isn't cheap either.  So are you really saving that much money driving around to buy a sucker that is $2 to $4 cheaper somewhere else?  Also the time spent driving around for a stupid sucker...haha.  Pay to play OR catch them on artificial.
