| Hopefully you guys can help me, not exactly many Muskie rods down here I can get my hands on to try out so I need to order one. I'm looking for a casting rod for large Snook and Tarpon, throwing big 10" 1-4 oz baits on 65 braid and locked down drag. 7'6" - 8" ideally. Problem is I need one with a soft tip, apparently you guys like more broom stick type but snook like to come from behind and suck the bait in, so if there's no give in the tip the bait can't go backwards into their mouth and even if they get it they feel me right away and spit it. Would also help throwing the lighter 1oz type lures, and fast action solid backbone have to set the hook extremely hard. Anyone know of a good rod that fits that description?

| Thanks, the Medium action worries me a bit though. Seems about every Muskie rod says "fast" action, but the one I did get my hands on felt more medium. St. Croix Premier 7'6" MH Fast action, 30 - 65, 3/4 - 3. I did like the rod I'm a big fan of St. Croix just wish the tip was softer, wondered if the 8' version same specs would be. Also how the other models compare in action there's a rod with the same specs in Mojo and Legend Tournament. |

| I like my tooth tamer rod it's 8'6"mh tips a little softer than my TI rod it's rated for 1 1/2-4oz lures. My Ti is 1-4. They do make the same rod in 8' I know for snook and tarpon tooth tamer sells 8'6"mh and the 9' heavy rods. |

| Awesome thanks! They have a bass rod 7' 11" Heavy / Fast 20-80# 1-3oz that looks pretty good too. I rarely throw 4oz 90% is 2oz. |

Tackle Industries sells an average 3-4 rods a week down into Florida for Snook fishing. Most guys are using the 9' XH 1pc rods.
Check out this youtube video. You can see Ben describe some good aspects of both the TI rods for Snook fishing. Just an FYI we just came out with a TI 8'6" spinning rod in the same actions too if you like spinning rods...

| Maybe look at Cabela's muskie rods. They have an 8' med. hvy. for 3/4 to 1 oz. lures. They're on sale now for $99.99 and have several lengths and action to choose from. They look like nice rods....DaveMP |

I was going to bring up the Shimano Compre but I'm not sure it's better than everything else listed.
I use an 8 ft XH for lighter baits - perfect. It's softer than other XH rods I've used. and it's pretty affordable. |

Just an FYI but the TI rods are lighter than the Shimano compre and fenwick elite tech of the same length... You must have gotten your news from CNN...  But with that said, if you can tell the different between 1oz (a shot of water) you shoudl not be throwing 1lb lures... ha ha Both the Shimano compre and the fenwick elite tech are good rods too. |

Thanks Matt!! Its getting hard to get a hold of me too... LOL I quit my career day job 6 months ago...thought I would get an extra 45hrs a week of "free" time.... LOL I am back up to 70-80hr work weeks with TI and Vexan now. We will grow by just a littel over 30% this year and I have some new deals in the works where we may double our company size next year!! Can't wait. Got some new musky stuff in the works too... Coming soon... |

Location: Wisconsin River | I took my SC legend "downsizer" down there last spring. It worked ok. got a lighter spinning rod for the next time. Most lures used there are less than 1 oz and the rods we use for musky fishing are too stiff to load when casting small jigs and cranks. |

| My 9ft 2-piece MH TI rod goes with me on every saltwater vacation. Paired with a Komodo 471SS, I have caught everything from snook and blackfish on up to 6ft sharks and 200lb rays.
It is definitely one of the best travel rods around, for its shear versatility, that I have seen and used. |

| The 9ft 2-piece MH does throw 1oz lures well, just make sure you pair the rod with a good reel.
There is more then enough back bone to set the hook hard and move snook away from snags where they tend too run, at the same time I appreciate the softer tip on the rod when it comes to fighting powerful fish (you don't want too fast of a tip for saltwater species). |
