Posts: 81 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I haven't seen much talk about these type of baits and just wanted to get idea what people think? I know the old stand by's and the Lake X craze. With Phatnom and Suick coming out with ones. Open to ideas. Thanks

Posts: 497 Location: Ludington, MI | I had a Whopper Plopper that got lots of action and I lost it. I bought the same one and I can't buy a fish on it. I have a friend who had some and was having no luck on one, but then he took a can of black paint to it and has caught fish. I think it's the best designed of the bunch because it never goes out of tune, hardly rolls over and such. That said, I know there are much more productive ones out there so I'm looking forward to the answers you get.

Posts: 492 Location: midwest | They all work and all catch fish. It's funny how the fish can prefer one sound of a bait over the rest but I've seen it enough times. Sometimes old is "new again" where a Stomper or a Lelure gets more action than a Pacemaker or Lake X. Fish seem to show preference for one sound or another. Make sure you have a subtle bait, a more aggressive pop bait and a clicking type prop in your arsenal and let the fish tell you.

Posts: 20179 Location: oswego, il | I had a guy in the boat with me and he was using a rotating bait topwater that does not typically make the pop, just the splash. I was telling him how i prefer baits that make the hard pop over the one he was using. A short time later i scooped a muskie with that bait in it's mouth.

Posts: 735 Location: Apparently where the Muskie aren't | I like my lake X fb but the paint just seems to fall right off it. I've maybe thrown it 150 cast and haven't even caught a fish on it and it looks like I've been catching fish on it for years.

Posts: 315 | On my home water the fish seem to like the deeper plop of TopRaiders and the Lake X lures. I don't own a Nite Walker but have a friend that loves them.

Posts: 29 | I've been throwing these for 3 years on Georgian bay. Didn't catch a fish the first 2 years with 3 different top raiders. Picked up a lake X fat bastard over the winter, and landed 2 on it this year already. Mine seems to be holding up very well compared to the one mentioned above. That's where my confidence is with these baits now. Lake X all the way

Posts: 221 | i prefer lake x, but they are getting sloppy churning out so many of them now. The ones I got last year were awesome. The 2 I got at the MN muskie expo don't run for crap.

Posts: 386 | Pacemakers, Whopper Ploppers, Top raiders and Low Riders are the prop baits that I favor. All produce a different sound and don't cost an arm and a leg.

Posts: 1080 Location: Aurora | I've got a 6" soft-tail Phantom with an oversized grub tail that sits low, sounds amazing, and throws water around like a puppy takin it's first swim. Not a prop but I thot i'd share.

Posts: 323 Location: Elk River, MN | Hawg Wobblers are always a good one to have, they've got that little prop on the back that sneaks them into this category
