Got a fish in 10 minutes in Kenosha harbor, then fruitlessly casted and trolled for the next 5 hours...but did pass a Coast Guard safety check, so that's always nice. And (like Jesus) I fed the Conklyn family through my fish(es).

How did everyone else do?

Just got back from the lake of the wind and wet ass. Had two good days and the rest were nasty cold front. Got hailed on twice, came close to having to spend the night on an island soaked to the bone. My first time, even though we never seen a musky above 45, i did catch more pike over 30" than i had total i. My life. I see why so mamy go, you get the right conditions this place can be special.

Did some pre-ice mapping on a few spots to make life easier this winter and my dog Tod ran in his first Field Trial ... fun weekend combination of water and field setting up for the future.

One follow with only an hour of casting one the way home. Couldn't convert it and I blame it on me wearing my boots instead of the crocs and socks... I got one stand up and ready, another stand up and needing pruning and one stand assembled for field installation this up coming weekend.

Went 5 for 7 on Indiana lakes Friday & Saturday, ranging from 24" to 47&1/2". One of the lost fish was mid-forties. Sunday was a total bust, saw 3 biggest maybe 24"

20/34/38 on Webster Sunday. Water temp upper 60s. We did see several very nice fish among the 10 or so others we saw.

It's another miracle, and after an overnight brining and a few hours in the smoker, a tasty snack.

That is actually great news to hear of the smaller fish being seen and caught: meaning there's a brighter future for those Indiana lakes once again...

I have seen more 18-30" fish this year than probably the last 5 years combined. Whether it's delayed stocking or the presence of actual weeds, something seems to be working.

I'm not just seeing them in Wisconsin, I'm catching them. My boat has put 8 sub-30 fish in the boat this year (including 1 Sunday), when for about the last decade we have averaged 1-2 sub 30 fish per year. By my estimation they are all 2015 fish, so 2015 was a really good year.

Also got a 35" Sunday. Had to be in the wind to see anything. Saturday was a bust for me.

The reasons you've listed for seeing the smaller fish once again are two of the many other reasons you're seeing these fish once again. Yes...what the DNR is doing with their delayed stocking with larger/older fingerlings is of course helping, less weed kills killing off the weeds is helping as well, etc. Add in the fact that the angling pressure is WAY down compared to back in the heyday when those Indiana waters were at their peak. Everything comes and goes in cycles. Lakes/fisheries come and go in cycles as well. And once the Indiana waters start to be heard of popping out both numbers and numbers of large fish once again....the masses of anglers and guides will come back as well....following the fish. No different than a muskie following the forage base. The mid to late 90s thru the early to mid 2000s....those waters were pounded to a froth by anglers and guides and their clients. Things have been "quiet" for the past 10+ years due to the decline of those fisheries....deeming them to be more like true muskie waters. Those fisheries are healing now and will soon be back to those peak levels once again.
