Mille lacs is kicking out some impressive, muskie sized gators these days. looks like European caliber (almost).

Nice pike, hidden hands and held all the way out make it look all that much better. Not European quality however, not even Canadian quality. Decent pike none the less!

Hidden hands or not, that's a giant gator anywhere!

All of the northern dudes seem to hate pike .... Maybe its because we don't have pike down this way but I'd be overjoyed to catch fish like that on a semi-regular basis lol

Way to pi*ss in a guy's cheerios while barely making it a compliment!

No kidding half the people on this forum can never give a compliment without questioning size or critiquing something.

That is Jason Hamernick. I'm just guessing, but I don't think he really needs to or cares to try to make a fish look bigger than it is.

This. I second the 'really?' part of all the critical commentary....take my word for it life is too short.

Never seen anyone block the face before, background yes. Nothing wrong with catching a big thick healthy pike. People say mill lacs but it looks more like whiteface resivour.

Awesome fish!!! I would be MORE than happy to catch Pike like that. I have zero problem with catching Pike. I enjoy catching them as well.

It's threads and comments from others, like this, that prevent a lot of people from even bothering to take the time to post photos of fish they've caught. It's threads and comments from others, like this, that send people away from great web sites like this. It's gotten very old, over the years, weeding through the threads full of nay-sayers and people overly critiquing and overly discounting people's catches.

Steve is right....life is way too short for the B.S.

I think that might be Me ! Very nice Pike !
Catching a 45 inchish Pike almost always fights harder than a comparable sized Muskie....Just saying.

I'm pretty sure they are rain pants. Unless they added a denim cuff for style points.

I've been noticing Jason and a few others have been sticking some nice mid 40 class pike out there this year. European caliber? No, but not sure where in Canada the fish are so consistently big that a fat 45"er wouldn't get some love.

Mid 40's would be a good one in most places across the pond. We've had some visitors fish the US and Canada, and they tell me 40" is a big first goal for them, and a 20# fish is really making the grade.

For those who mock the fish, looks like he mounted a place to sit for you on the lower left side of the photo.

Not bashing anything, just pointing out the hold in that photo makes the fish appear larger yet. Simple facts, no bashing, people can hold fish however they like. Jason has a picture of another pike that looks equally impressive if not more so.

I got no problem with this. Better too close than too far away. I have a picture of me hold my PB smallie. It was a 5 pounder but looks like a 2 pounder because the camera was too far away!! UGH!

I agree with gregk9. I don't think that a camera does a big fish enough justice if not taken right. The star of the picture is the fish! Nice pike
