Did some searches on nets and didn't find any recent threads. What would be a good value net for a 17-foot Lund? High gunwales so I'd like some depth. Read some bad reviews on packable models, but I want something that won't take up the whole #*^@ boat.

Anyone have thoughts on this one? Tripped over it for $60 and had to impulse buy it.

I love my Frabill but wow its takes up a lot of room in my boat. I have seen the Stowmaster and I may get one...lol whenever I get to go fishing again They do look nice and a nice design too.

I lost my 1st Beckman bought a stow master used it one weekend .It's nice that it folds up small and dose not take up room. The other hand when it's unfolded it takes up just as much room. Buddy cought a mid 40s fish by the time i had it ready to net the fish he had it to the boat. I brought it back and bought another Beckman. My next net will be a predator light weight.easy to Handel for one person fishing

I have a frabill model 5555. It a pro performance model. 32x41 hoop. Weighted tangle free. It's not the super heavy bag like the 8425 or kahuna. The bags light weight if the fish alone. Ive had net for 15 years and an on the 3 replacement bag. You can find them online for around 120.

I bought a Ranger Net some years back. Great net and a bit more reasonable in price than some of the others. Look for this type of net "Ranger Nets: Knotless Flat Bottom Rubber Coated Net"

Thanks. I have a 36x36 net frame that I believe to be a Ranger and bought a 48-inch deep Frabill bag previously, but it wasn't and ideal fit for the frame and just didn't give the fish room and reach the water. Hopefully this one has enough depth for CPR time.

Frabill bought the rights to build basically the same net as Stowmaster years ago. Both are great nets and stow away well.

I love the frabill power stow frame but didn't care for the bag. Ended up replacing the bag with a Drifter bag and couldn't be happier with the setup now.

predator XXL. that bag is an aquarium and performs like a $300+ net at $180.

Do NOT get the knotted Ranger net, unless you enjoy picking away at a tangled mess every time you net a fish.

Received the Frabill folding net yesterday. They expedited the free shipping. Looks like a great frame, a little concerned about the fine netting, but I'll give it a try. I was mistaken, my previous net was a Cummins frame with a Frabill bag.

Predator XXL. Similar size to big kahuna but much lighter.

Stowmaster is a great design. Terrible bag. Unless they have fixed the netting in the past couple years.

A fish becomes an absolute tangled mess when it thrashes. We had to cut the net on LOTW it was so tangled and still lost the fish.

I've got a Frabill Performance for fishing alone.

Really cannot beat the Predator XXL.

power stow 36x38 with the frabill 4666 bag is what you want. This net bag is the same as the frabill power catch netting. You will have to buy both separately and build yourself, but trust me it is worth it.

I bought a stowmaster a few years back and thought it was great with the folding. Then once I put a fish in it I hated the one I had. I had the stowmaster with the lighter net bag and had the worst time getting the fish and hooks out of it. When the fish barrel rolled in the net it was a mess to the point of having to cut the net. B4 u buy one check the netting.

Agree with loving the stowmaster frame but disliking the net. I used mine on one trip and ordered the frabille bag like the others above. Best of both worlds now.

I bought the Stowmaster and replaced the bag with the Predator XXL bag right away and I'm very happy with the combination.  Sounds like you've now got a good net.  You may just want to consider the replacement bag upgrade if/when your concerns become confirmed.  It's sad that you would spend that money on a net and then have to upgrade the bag, but I suspect the reason the companies don't put heavier bags on the "storable" nets is the fact that they simple don't fold up as well with the heavier bag.  So, be prepared to give up a little "ease of use" until the bag is broken in if you do upgrade.

I bought a frabill, I forgot what the size is but it's the one that's below the khuna. Found it for $150 at cabelas and the had a cupon for $20 off after I spend $150 so I got it for $130. Sadly no fish in it yet, actually still has the tags on it but from what I can tell it's very sturdy and I really like the bag material. Good deal if you ask me.

Anyone tried RS nets? I really like the option to have the octagon hoop design with the raised front edge to keep fish from falling back out of the net. Seen a few of them and considering one myself, but they have few dealers..

RS nets are very heavy in my opinion. I went drifter light weight and put a frabill bag on it
