Hated split grips at first but forced myself to use one for a morning and after that I grab a split grip rod now...

what's the point to force yourself to love something,do you act like that vs girl?

I think his point is that he forced himself to give it a legitimate chance after using full grip for years and becoming accustomed to it. Trying new things is often more difficult in one's own mind than in practice.

I also love IPAs but the gas they give me could be considered a war crime.

LOL lighten up Francis... Since I own the rod company I wanted to try it for just more than 1 minute holding it to get a better idea so I could properly advise my customers.

What causes you to respond negatively to nearly every post on this site? Uptight much? Just wondering.

I can take or leave split grips. I have 2 and they are ok. They do feel cool on the cast with the rounded and tapered butt section but I don't need that. They are tougher on the ribs at the start of dawg ripping season but I find I get used to it.

The split is ok but I find myself gravitating towards full grips. I'd have no problem with a split grip on a dedicated blade or straight retrieve topwater rod. Ripping I lean towards full cork.

The split grip comment I saw early on in development. That is why I left the blank portion in the split grip area on all Tackle Industries musky rods FAT. LOL I think you may have been one to comment years ago on this too! its late to say it but THANKS! Guys love the split grip rods with the fat exposed blanks now...

The cushioning that cork provides is negligible. What I dont like about a full grip is the added diameter under my arm, the less space the rod takes up there the less it will bother my ribs. Split grip for me 100%.

I can't answer for the split grip crowd but I can testify that a full gripped St.Croix will float an ABU 6500 being towed by a 42"er.

Don't ask.... (roll eyes)
