Posts: 6 | I am headed to Ontario for the first time in mid September. Staying at Red Wing Lodge for a week. I am just wondering if anyone has tips to share for a first timer to LOTW? Any must have baits?

Should still just be normal tactics as the water temps are still in the 60's unless something drastic happens. Scan your maps for points that have larger than normal shelves that drop into deep water. There are quite a few within 10 mins of Red Wing. Topwater and bucktails and cranks all in play. Last sept we saw more fish on topwaters than any other bait.

Look at the posting dates for the video or for other clues for fall fishing as opposed to summer fishing. I know for sure that some of these are shot in the Sabaskong Bay area.

Posts: 3467 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Dave, if it is anything like northern Minnesota, I'm betting the black flies will be gone and mosquitoes only out at dusk... it's possible to have a soft freeze by then so if you're lucky, the buzzing will be mostly done. Steve

Posts: 512 | Thanks Steve! been some bad days up there the last few summers, really annoying when you just wanna fish and you're getting chewed by flies! Dave
