so yesterday i was fishing infront a creek mouth that flows into a bay and hooked a massive clump of weeds. wanting to get my line back out as soon as possible i reeled as fast as i could until the weeds and my xrap where skimming atop the water. then without warning a upper 30" tried to eat the clump of weeds came at least 3ft out of the water. has anything similar happened to you guys?

On Osborne bay years back my Weagle landed on a thick mat of grass, as I'm reeling in the weagle and a mat about the size of a garbage can lid I see a little 32" or so following behind. I don't think the fish could see the bait through the mat, I think it was following it's cover. That was pretty weird. Not aggressive like yours but weird nonetheless.

Had a mid 30 eat a weed fouled shallow invader a couple of years ago.. I guess he needed some roughage in his diet..

Opening week on LOTW several years ago, I was throwing a bucktail & dragged it thru a weed bed. I hooked a huge clump and was jerking it back to the boat. Longest fish I ever saw followed it. I have caught fish over 50", this one was much longer. It was skinny but I think well over 60". It watched me pull the weeds off my bait, then swam away.

Hooked a 3+ foot reed with a Hellhound, pulled the reed out of the lake bottom. Reeled in quickly & saw about a 40" muskie that followed right to the boat. A friend had small muskie follow a Burmek B1 with just the back section wobbling behind the weed covered front section.

I have had muskies follow lures with 6ft of weeds on it. I have caught muskies and my pb pike with weeds on the lure.

Here is a tip that has landed me a few fish. You foul the bait. Its done. It can even be and have caught fish doing this with a glide bait. Pop the bait hard 2-3 times to get as much #*#* off the bait. Then scream it back as cast as you can. It works and as i stated even with glide baits. I had a 50"class indiana fish eat a savage gear bait doing it. Lost it! Caught several wisconsin muskies this way. Got the pike trolling a depth raider just after it hit a weed hump.

Had a tangled bull dog with a clump of weeds attached. While trying to pull the mess in I got crushed by a big fish. Lost it after a few head shakes. Scared me pretty good. Biggest follow I've ever seen followed super hard and aggressive on a fouled phantom with weeds on it.

Pretty much rip and burn, if it moves it's food.

Dug a reef Hawg into a nice clump of weeds and it completely covered the lure. While pulling at across the surface had a Lower 40 inch class explode on it. Obviously didn't catch the fish but really blew my mind

My buddy also has a bowling ball size clump of weeds on his hell hound and had a fish follow it to the boat
