Had a lazy follow this morning from a low 40" fish. About 10' out it veered off, sped up slightly and went straight for the minn kota (running) and pretty much head butted it. Water is very clear, so I doubt it was accidental. This was a first for me, is this common?

Had it happen many times. I had one of the old original auto pilots that produced an audible click when adjusting course that one was hammered multiple times by big fish that would shake the small boat I had at the time.

I think I'm just going to start putting hooks on my trolling motor.

Yep, had this happen several times. Mostly in Canada, and mostly with large fish.

Often times I was figure eighting  a follow....several times around....fish would sink and was gone.....took another cast.... looked down and saw my follow starring at the blade of trolling motor. Sometimes they struck it, sometimes just starred.

Seems like it was most often when I was casting blades, and fish would lock onto a slightly larger  blade. Heck, it's sonics, and if motor is in constant on, it's fair game!!!

I have had several mid forties stare at it as to be sizing it up for a minute at a time. Normally see the sonar being bonkers and look over the bow to the surprise.

This muskie was 100% targeting the trolling motor. That was no accident, it didn't even look like it came out of the 8. Just came from nowhere https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rrv-qo_eKWU

I've had them stare at the trolling motor blade as it was turning, but no hits yet.

Wow...thanks. I'd never have believed it...

Maybe we need to up-size on baits ???? (or not) Unreal.

Had a fish up on Eagle that we chased for days. Every day, the same thing: "There she is. Here she comes! There she goes. Crap!" Had her bumping a Weagle with her nose one day, that was pretty exciting. But this stupid fish would not make a turn and would not eat.

Last day of the trip we're going back and forth: "Wanna try her again?" "I dunno. She's gotta be gone by now." "How many times have we seen that fish?" "12?" "Yeah, I counted 12." "Well???" "Yeah, why not." "What are you gonna throw?" "Does it matter??"

Sure enough, first cast. There she is again. It's like that stupid Groundhog Day movie. Holy crap, she's coming in hot. Oh my god, she's actually gonna eat! Wha? *BONK!*

I guess the big black lure attached to the front of the boat was the one I should have been throwing.

Seen a few others (though not of that size) sitting there staring at the trolling motor.

Also seen them sitting there staring at a lure hanging over the side of the boat just above the water.

Don't ever let anyone tell you how smart muskies are. They're not.
