I have been tying my own flashabou skirts and using pre-made from various peeps.
I don't have a lot of experience with tying my own but want to tie mine for durability as I have had some fall apart without getting any fish on them and then some last forever.
Here is my process.
Wrap thread on coil, double knot then cement, add flash, wrap, cement then wrap and finish with the double knot again then cement. done
If I add less flash at a time and wrap, cement, then add a little more flash and repeat will that be more durable?
Any tips for tying my own flash and getting it last as long a possible without coming unwrapped or the flash pulling from the coil would be great.

sorry so long
thanks a bunch

- Smallest amount of thread possible and keep it as compact as possible.
- Use size D Nylon thread - You want thread with stretch so that when you tie you establish a pre-load on the material being tied.
- You don't need to tie multiple knots - just backwrap to hold it in place.
- The critical part is the finishing/beauty wrap - neat, tight, and finished with a snugged whip finish knot.
- 2 coats of heat cement and another 2 coats of Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails.

- Hope it helps - works for me and I've tied thousands of baits.
