I was wondering how to get tails dyed like Ghosttails or Rabbid Squirrels. Are the tails dyed before the hair is cut off? Can I buy hair already dyed like these that I can tie myself? I searched old forums and seen a black marker will work. Will this bleed? Interested in other colors than black also. Thanks

They are squirrel tails not bucktails. However the deer tail has barred hair. It the darker top patch of the hair. It's more noticeable on the lighter colors.

The black permeant marker will fade/bleed over time. Rit Dye for clothing will work best. You can get it at Wal-Mart for around $3 for the liquid bottle. You can use a small paint brush to put stripes on the bucktail.
