It seems like this is stripping power from the DNR to manage the lakes. It seems like a bigger issue than Musky stocking, the DNR should be peeed!

Bill really needs to be defeated in his next election. He's always the guy.

Important:  Our friends at the DNR need your HELP!

Contact your Legislators and tell them you support the Minnesota fishing license fee increases for Residents and Non-Residents.  It is only $3 increase to $25 for an individual license.  All DNR funding is from license fees and they receive no general funding from the Legislature.  The already have many projects and job replacements on hold due to decreasing revenues and more drastic cuts affecting all species will happen without it.  The Legislature will not pass this increase if they do not hear from you!

Please contact the chairperson of the legislative committees with authority over DNR budgets and policies. These people need to hear from all anglers, not just their local constituents.

Who should we be contacting to vote against this? Can anybody provide a link to our state representatives?

A short write up that we can make personal tweaks to would be appreciated as well. It'll ensure we maintain consistent messaging.

Thanks so much!

No hearing has been scheduled and probably won't at this point in the session. If and when that happens we will let you all know. If you want to contact a legislator it's your right, but it's not really necessary just yet.

Sounds good. Thanks for the FYI. Might be a good idea for us to put together a list of members/voters in this community for every district who will contact their representatives. I'm sure we could put together a pretty sizeable list of out-of-stater's who can attest to the money they bring into this state for musky.

Just a thought. Thanks for all your efforts.

If you guys want to put some money into helping address these challenges and preserve the fishery for the future, then please support the Minnesota Muskie and Pike Alliance or MMPA. www.mnmuskie.org

We are the PAC that funds a lobbyist in order to advance Musky interests at the capital and defends the fishery from stuff like these bills. Any amount of money helps, even a $1. If you are interested in donating, PM me on these boards and I can talk you through the process, I'm the treasurer.

I emailed Bill Ingibrigston's office with an outline of my musky related expenses in Minnesota last year a couple days ago. Problem is, he's a slimeball. Last fall he opened the public input meeting by saying 'I don't hate muskies" and since then all he's done is support every anti-musky effort and introduced legislation to appease the lake property owners and lake association members that he is beholden too. Complete loser. He needs to be removed from office.

Sen Ingibrightson's Bill just came out and we didn't see anything muskie related (just glanced at it though). Tomorrow there will be testimony and amendments so it will be interesting to see what happens. I will be in attendance just in case someone tries to pull something.

Was at the hearing today and nothing came out of it muskie wise. They are trying to push 2 line again, but other then that nothing that would directly affect muskies.

Two lines means I get to take home walleye to eat,,my second line would be a leech or powerbait.

It's going to hurt my wallet.... The local bait shop better keep more suckers in stock.

2 lines would be great for the fisherman...but not the fish. I'm undecided.

My stance has always been in favor of conservation and the fishery. I don't see how 2 line will benefit either. About 1/2 the muskie people I know want it and 1/2 don't so we're not taking a hard line stance on it.

I'm a caster for anything that swims. 2 lines doesn't affect me except when people have to much going on and hurt fish. It would eventually make fishing harder since people will get an extra bite of two each day for freezer fish. I don't like seeing 2 or three people trolling 4-6 lines who have no clue what's going on. Doesn't bother me when an excellent crew does it. I suppose I just wouldn't vote and let the masses make there decision.

I would be in favor of 2 lines as long as they reduce the limit on walleye.

If they did make two lines legal,,make it an option and additional charge if you choose to fish two,,put more $ in the dnr.

I think that's what will happen. I also think they would use this as an excuse to drop the bag as well.

I'll never get the fear of 2 lines in MN. It's silly.

I thought that if you bought a 5$ walleye stamp for mn dnr there was 4.50$ going to state fees and administration and 50 cents going to dnr.

Story of a record new crappie caught from lake Kinkaid. Interesting note about muskie stocking in there, too. (outlined below)
http://www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1766829-pending-illi...

“Kinkaid is not the type of lake where you can go catch a bunch of 2 and 3-pound crappie,” Estel said. “But there are huge ones in there. About 15 or 20 years ago, they introduced muskies into the lake and all the bass and crappie anglers freaked out. We thought it would decimate the population. But as it turns out, those musky have helped control the population, which provides more forage for the surviving crappie and bass. You might not catch a bunch out there, but the ones you catch will likely be the right ones. Essentially, only the strong survive.”
