Posts: 109 | I'm just starting out making my hook hangers and it's been a pain trying to bend the loops and wraps on small prices of wire. Using 0.051" but I also have 0.060". Any tips? Ive just been using vise grips and needle nose pliers.

Posts: 32 Location: West Bend WI | I made tools to wrap leader wire and bucktail wire. If you're handy with tools easy to do. Been making 125# wire single strand jerk bait and buck leaders w/welded rings. Pics show the tools I made to shape the 0.024” wire. Slot in the twist wrench is ~0.032 (hacksaw blade w/kerf ground down a bit), #4 FH screw to engage the wire. Tool with the pins (0.125 dia & 0.072” dia, spaced 0.030” apart) is used to form loop in wire prior to twist. Use shank from number drills if you like. Drill the mating hole, cut the drill shank to the length you need. Real easy to make a nice twist, and finish loop (eye) w/round jaw wire pliers to bend loop into alignment with wire shaft. I use the same type tooling, only larger for the 0.052(?) bucktail wire shafts I make. I use two 0.125” dia dowel pins spaced 0.065” apart for making bucktail shafts. Posts: 212 | These will save your hands. I do all of my wire wraps with these and vice grips, either .063 or .071. https://www.amazon.com/Knipex-2202160-Round-Pliers-Comfort/dp/B003RW...

How do those benifit regular needle nose plies? would you mind explaining the process of your wraps. My hook hanger wraps are for large crankbaits

Basically think of a paperclip that's bent to tbe "inner loop" is perpendicular to the outer. The hanger goes into the hole for belly hook, the main shaft goes through one "loop" and the perpendicular loop protrudes slightly out the bottom of the bait.

Posts: 910 Location: Hastings, mn, 55033 | Sorry for the delay in getting pics up. Not sure how well the pics will even work but hopefully you will get the idea. Basically two bends, made perpendicular to each other. Can be made with whatever size wire you want.
