Over your lifetime, what type of bait has put the most muskies in the net for you?

Posts: 2275 Location: Chisholm, MN | I wish I could say it wasn't a bucktail...but it is. I'm hoping to close the gap with more topwater. That's more fun I think.

Posts: 20178 Location: oswego, il | Crankbait, crankbaits trolled and glidebaits in that order. On the list, bucktails would beat out the jig.and thats it.

Posts: 1220 | I agree, you catch them on what you throw. And, I agree (with myself) that most are married to what they believe....but to an unfaithful bride. So, what I'm suggesting is that big girls, will "step out" on you, and go out with guys you think have no appeal. The mistake (as in other things) is believing you have her figured out, and will take her to bed doing the things you always thought she liked and used to work pretty well. She might have found some other "fat bastard" who's better at putting the worm on the hook???

Posts: 112 Location: Illinois | I've caught about 1/2 my fish while bass/northern fishing lol. The other 1/2 are split about evenly on rubber/jerkbaits/bucktails. I've started throwing a lot more topwaters and yet to hook one(lots of close calls).

Location: Contrarian Island | seems like every year is somewhat different at least for 2nd place in my boat... a few yrs ago rubber was 2nd... last year topwater, some years it's live bait... of the 99 in the boat last year I think about 55-60 of them were bucktails, with 5 of the 7 over 50" on bucktails.. guys can try to throw other things but bottom line is double blades are an unbelievable fish catching tool... over the course of the season when we are casting we have at least 1 rolling a vast majority of the time.. don't try to overthink it and think that by throwing something else you will catch more... yah some days you will...but bucktails are musky crack, plain and simple. Posts: 8717 | Topwater comes in with only 4 votes?! I'm not going to put down the blades, but if I had to pick one lure to fish with the rest of my life, it would float. Catching them on top is more fun than any other way. Also interesting that actual musky food comes in dead last. Makes sense -- most guys only fish live bait later in the fall, but if we did this poll for any other species of fish live bait would probably be the top pick.

Location: Contrarian Island | it's a poll asking what bait has put the most muskies in the boat... not which is most fun to catch them on EA...

Posts: 1209 | I agree that lures used the most tend to get bit he most but 1 fish for 5 hours on a certain bait average but more like 1 in ten for bucktails.. But bucktails get the attention most days. Makes people grind through to get 10 fish on blades and 2 on other lures..

Posts: 285 Location: NE Wisconsin | Have caught most on crankbaits, trolling LOW every fall since 86, and many years on Fox River and GB, before it was the IN place. But, used to love topwater fish the most. The last ten or so years, I have went to jigging Fuzzies. Nothing like hand to hand combat. 6-40' seeing some on the graph. Nothing like it. Get on the spot on the spot and jig the hell out of it....right in their face. Edited by Johnnie 2/10/2017 7:30 PM

I SO agree. then there's that d_mn Swik that always pulls at me...;) Most of mine come sub on a Suick but tops get tossed an awful lot! Something about that topsides take. I have trouble/issues - you name it! If it was easy I wouldn't keep doing it....
