| I was wondering if someone might have some insight into finishing the thread on a big marabou bucktail?? I have been tying for a while mostly as a hobby, but during this past season more and more guys have started to ask me to do custom baits for them. I am thrilled to do so! However, I haven't perfected the thread on the head of the tail, or the finishing wraps. I want to get a nice clean finished look, perhaps even put a logo or name to my work. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I have been mindful of making nice even wraps to finish, then mix a little paint with two part epoxy and cover the head, then turn slowly while it sets for a nice rounded even look. While this generally does a good job, and seems to be much more tooth proof than a lot of the baits on the market, it is still hard to get a real nice look. I have tried using shrink wrap, it works if the thread is tied pretty even, but I'm not a big fan of the look. I have considered using a 3/8 inch pex crimp on the end. I think it would be great for the build, but not sure about the finished look. I am aware of the UV resin, however have never worked with this. I will try to post a few pictures here as well.
